Construcción increíblemente gótica e histórica en el centro del casco histórico de la ciudad. Al visitarlo de noche sientes que viajas al pasado. Su construcción tiene origen luego del incendio de la Iglesia de la Compañía, en el que murieron cerca de dos mil personas. Al año siguiente, en 1864, el entonces Arzobispo de Santiago, Rafael Valentín Valdivieso, firmó un documento que mandaba a edificar una iglesia para el “Salvador del Mundo”, en honor a las víctimas del siniestro. El diseño del templo fue encargado al arquitecto alemán Teodoro Burchard y las obras comenzaron en 1874.

Incredibly Gothic and historical construction in the center of the historic city center. When you visit it at night you feel like you are traveling back in time. Its construction originates after the fire at the Iglesia de la Compañía, in which nearly two thousand people died. The following year, in 1864, the then Archbishop of Santiago, Rafael Valentín Valdivieso, signed a document that sent to build a church for the "Savior of the World", in honor of the victims of the incident. The design of the temple was commissioned to the German architect Teodoro Burchard and the works began in 1874.
