Dongshuimen Bridge — Attraction in Chongqing

Seeing Dongshuimen Bridge at night was truly a highlight of our Chongqing trip. The bridge stretches powerfully across the Yangtze River, and when it lights up after dark, it looks absolutely majestic against the city skyline. The glowing red and white structure, combined with the reflections shimmering on the river, creates a breathtaking scene that’s perfect for photos or just quiet admiration.

What makes it even more special is the way the bridge connects with the surrounding illuminated skyscrapers and riverside buildings—it feels like the whole city comes alive at night. Whether you’re walking nearby, cruising on the river, or just catching a glimpse from a distance, Dongshuimen Bridge is one of those iconic Chongqing sights you shouldn’t miss...

Definitely goes all the way from one side of the river to the other. You can't say fairer than that. Superb views of Chongqing & the Chang Jiang. Stand in the middle & watch boats full of timber pass slowly beneath while bangbang men & women stroll by with their improbable loads. A section of the old city wall lies under the bridge at its western end. As you head east & look just north (the bridge isn't actually neatly west to east, more WNW to ESE) you can see the surviving buildings of one of CQ's old quarters: if you want to explore it, you'll have to look for an alley or some winding steps to get you in, just before you get to the entrance to Shanxinlu...
