Luohan Temple — Attraction in Chongqing

Luohan temple is one of China’s national key Buddhist temple. Built in the Zhiping period of the northern Song dynasty around 1064-1067. This temple entrance is near subway station, easily to visit as in the center of the downtown area but it offers a surprisingly clam & quiet atmosphere . The small entrance fee is well worth it, even to escape the outside hustle & noise.

If you are only going to visit this only temple in your China trip or willing to pay 20rmb, pls go for it.

Else I am not recommending as its a scam where nowhere in English or Chinese stated that tickets need to be brought. The 20 rmb is enforced for you to buy incense sticks which is voluntary by nature. The security guard will not let you in if you don't buy. Thus the whole temple thing is a scam and it's not even unesco or the top 20 temples in China.

It deserves 5 star because it's an oasis in the middle of the crowd of Chongqing city centre (if we can define a centre of this huge metropolis). The part with graves made me feeling the devotion and the pray of people coming here just for mercy. The wooden carvings, golden painted, are precious demonstration of the middle age past, the three temples inside have being restored but not yet completed...
