Xiangshan Scenic Area — Attraction in Guilin

The Elephant Trunk Hill Scenic Area is big, but only a few of the things inside are really worth seeing. Certainly Elephant Trunk Hill itself is one of them, as it is one of the most iconic sites in Guilin, as well as the top of the mountain on which the arch can be found, but other than that the scenic area has a very touristy feel to it without much in the way of authenticity. The views from the top of the mountain are good, but not as good as some of the other hills mountains in town. At 100 kuai to enter the park, the price is pretty steep by Chinese standards as well. Still, a trip to Guilin would feel a bit strange without seeing the Elephant Trunk Hill, so I'd say it's still worth a visit, even with...

A great view of an elephant with its trunk dipped in water. Very unique and the Lijiang River itself is a great sight too.

Free admission, although you need to book a ticket in advance and scan a QR code. But you can probably sneak in without doing so if you blend in with the many tour groups that charge through.

On China's local map (高德地圖)，this place is the number 1sight seeing location in Guilin region. The park itself isn't very huge, the elephant mountain is a small scale hill which is easy to travel up around within 2 hours. The stairs condition are good, and highest point isn't too hard to reach.
