The park sprawls expansively, almost defying any notion of boundaries. Without the guidance of a tour leader, navigating its attractions can feel disjointed, leaving one bewildered and adrift in a landscape that seems to stretch infinitely. During my stay, the park was approximately 1.5 miles from my hotel — a manageable distance, yet it felt like a world away.

As one approaches the picturesque West Lake, the price of accommodation rises dramatically. Ironically, this heightened cost comes with the trade-off of being situated further from the convenience of the subway. On the eastern shore of the lake, throngs of people gather, particularly vibrant young individuals who have harnessed platforms like Xiaohongshu, Weibo, and Douyin to carve out their livelihoods. It’s a fascinating spectacle: young women adorn themselves in regal attire reminiscent of palaces, while some men don armor-like costumes, all in pursuit of capturing attention and generating income through interactive engagements. Their performances — a blend of singing, dancing, and what is colloquially known as "edge brushing" — draw crowds eager for entertainment and willing to reward creativity through tips and advertisements.

This dynamic scene has birthed a fresh cultural phenomenon around the West Lake, one that feels both contemporary and rooted in tradition. As I strolled along the serene banks, I paused to admire the delicate lotus flowers blooming gracefully and a charming pavilion that jutted into the water, inviting contemplation. Photographers dotted the landscape, each poised to capture that elusive perfect moment as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the lake’s surface.

Today being Friday, there was an unmistakable buzz in the air — a collective sigh of relief as many bid farewell to a week filled with relentless work. Amidst this vibrant atmosphere, I contemplated the possibility of switching hotels for a more luxurious experience. However, I quickly realized that nearly all affordable rooms had been claimed by the influx of tourists, leaving only high-end accommodations that came with their own premium price tags.

Very nice scenery. Pretty big town rather city size. Just take the subway to longxiangqian sfatiin and you are there. There are slots of hotel and huge semi-under ground malls. A lot of shop selling the 5 famous dishes from the area. Yes, when you come up you will be dazzles by the huge screen out the mall. Dun be surprise to see a huge Apple store...
