Located in the Grand Hyatt Hangzhou, Hubin 28 is a Michelin Guide restaurant and Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. This flagship eatery has earned its reputation as one of the city’s finest, with some even calling it the best in all of China. Hubin 28 masterfully celebrates Zhejiang’s rich culinary heritage, blending history, tradition and a touch of luxury for an unforgettable dining experience.
One of their signature dish - 招牌蟹酿橙. This seasonal dish was artfully presented in a fresh orange shell and pays a nod to the olden days (before vinegar was invented) when citrus was used to balance the bold crab flavors. Each bite was a luxurious treat, brimming with fresh crab meat - the combi of sweet, savoury and refreshing notes created a perfect harmony.
Another showstopper is the 迷你金牌扣肉 served with pumpkin flatbread. The braised pork belly was so tender it practically melts in our mouth. Beneath the delicate braised pork belly pagoda was a bed of bamboo shoot hearts - only the most tender parts were used, adding a perfect crunch. The flatbread was designed to hold slices of pork belly and bamboo shoots, so you could enjoy them together in a bite. Rich yet surprisingly light, without the usual heaviness of pork belly - it’s a true melt-in-your-mouth masterpiece.
A highlight of Hangzhou cuisine, the 龙井虾仁 features fresh river prawns infused with the delicate aroma of Longjing tea. This simple yet perfectly executed dish lets the quality of the prawns truly shine.
Another highlight is the 杭椒炒牛肉. The beef was of exceptional quality—tender, juicy, and perfectly marbled with just the right amount of fat. Each bite was rich and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, beautifully balanced by the fragrant heat of Hangzhou peppers.
The 时令鲜果配芸豆燕窝糕 is a quintessential Hangzhou dessert, beautifully capturing the region’s delicate flavors. The soft, velvety cake made from mung beans and bird’s nest, offers a luxurious, smooth texture. Topped with an assortment of fresh seasonal fruits, it adds a refreshing contrast to the richness of the cake. The delicate sweetness makes it a perfect, refined finish to the meal, embodying the understated flavors Hangzhou is known for.
The carefully curated wine list complements the food, and don’t miss the premium teas, especially the famous Dragon Well Tea grown right here in Hangzhou. With top-notch service, where everything was executed with grace and professionalism to ensure a memorable experience, Hubin 28 is worth...
Read moreChecked out this Michelin starred restaurant. The Beggar chicken was good and dramatic with guest required to tap the clay to break it open. The Dongpo pork was delicious but I'm hindsight a small portion would have sufficed. The sea urchin tofu was a miss. Tofu smelled burnt. When we told the waitress the comments was just waved off. The hairy crab was delicious and a bonus for the staff to actually prepare it without having the messiness of removing the crab meat. The yellow wine osmanthus cocktail was delicious as was the expensive pot of...
Read moreThe food is ok, nothing fantastic. Pork dishes tend to be sweet, like some Shanghainese style cooking. I give it 2 (instead of 3) stars also because the menu is ridiculously priced. The "Longjing Xiaren 龙井虾仁“ shrimp platter costs a whopping RMB298... for the most plain, unassuming plate of shrimps. Presentation-wise, this scored a ZERO, and taste-wise, 6/10... disappointing encounter. our RMB700 bill (for 2 people, over 4 simple dishes, no wine, no drinks.) would have been better spent elsewhere,...
