The signs were a little confusing, about what boats went to where. So you have to be like a detective and figure things out like the cost of boat rides and where they go to.
Nice sculptures along the walk though. The walk way was clean and appeared well maintained. There are clean rest rooms and places where you can eat a picnic in pleasant surroundings. Lovely gardens with pretty flowers to see.
Did not like the floating restaurant I thought the staff were rude. The place hardly had any customers and I would have liked to have sat by the window and was refused twice as we were not with a party of 4 or more. It was low season so there were only 10 other people eating.
It costs 2.50 HKD to cross the water way to the other side. You will need the exact change. You can get a boat ride around the harbour for about 1/2 hour for around 50HKD each person. It's not a place where you could spend all day, but could spend about 2 hours here and you've covered everything there is to see. Unless you eat at the floating restaurant.
The restaurant is exquisitely decorated and has a free boat too and from it. So you've not lost anything if you just go to look and not eat.
Over the water there is a lovely little Buddhist temple with a...
Read moreOne of the interesting places to visit in Aberdeen is the Promenade that extends to the east of the Aberdeen Wholesale Fish Market along Praya Road. It is a neat place with a blended urban and industrial feel and is a good place to spend time before/after sampan rides, ferry trips as well as for those exploring the Aberdeen area.
What you find is a traditional waterfront lined with short trees. There are park benches, elderly fitness corner, tai chi area, children's playground as well as other expected city promenade features. However, you will also find an old fisherman statue, testament to the history of the fishing industry which has thrived here at Aberdeen for centuries. There are sampan boat shaped seating, a large sailboat mast shaped structure as well as fresh and dried seafood dealings lining the water. Lastly, you can also hire sampan boats for short half hour trips around the harbour and will find a couple of ferry piers which take passengers to the popular outlying islands of...
Read moreThe promonade is the place to go if you want to find a sampan to take you on a harbor tour (HK$100-150), or to Lamma island (HK $200-$250). There is also a rest room, public artwork (and yes, these are also Ingress portals) and a nice walk along the water. There are no food places, unless you consider taking a boat to the expensive Jumbo restaurant in the middle of the harbor. The prices mentioned here are indications, you can haggle for lower prices for the Sampan. The person you haggle with isn't necessarily the...
