Fantastic Stay at Crowne Plaza Kowloon East – Highly Recommended!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Crowne Plaza Kowloon East, and I must say, it was an amazing experience from start to finish. This hotel truly exceeded my expectations in every aspect, from its prime location to its exceptional service, spacious rooms, delicious food, and impeccable cleanliness.
One of the standout features of this hotel is its strategic location. Situated in Kowloon East, it offers convenient access to public transportation, making it incredibly easy to travel around Hong Kong. The hotel is directly connected to the MTR station, which is a huge plus for travelers looking to explore the city without hassle. Additionally, there are shopping malls, restaurants, and entertainment venues nearby, making it an excellent choice for both tourists and business travelers. Whether you need to visit tourist attractions or attend meetings, everything is easily accessible from this location.
Unlike many hotels in Hong Kong, where space can be a concern, Crowne Plaza Kowloon East offers exceptionally spacious rooms. The moment I walked in, I was impressed by the modern decor, comfortable bedding, and well-thought-out layout. The room had ample space to move around, which made my stay incredibly comfortable. The large windows allowed plenty of natural light, and the view of the city was breathtaking. The bed was plush and provided a perfect night’s sleep after a long day of sightseeing. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring a separate shower and bathtub, along with premium toiletries.
One of the best things about this hotel is its amazing staff and top-notch service. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the front desk team, who were extremely courteous and efficient. Check-in was smooth, and they even went the extra mile to accommodate my requests. The housekeeping team ensured that the room was always spotless and well-stocked with amenities. The concierge was also very helpful, providing excellent recommendations for places to visit and the best ways to get around the city. Every staff member I interacted with was professional and genuinely eager to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
The dining options at Crowne Plaza Kowloon East were absolutely delightful. The breakfast buffet had a fantastic selection of both local and international dishes, all of which were fresh and delicious. I also had the opportunity to try their rooftop restaurant, which offered an amazing dining experience with stunning city views. The chefs clearly put a lot of effort into the presentation and flavors, and every dish I tried was a treat.
Cleanliness is a top priority for me when staying at a hotel, and I was thoroughly impressed by how hygienic and well-maintained this hotel is. The common areas, elevators, and dining spaces were spotless, and my room was cleaned daily to the highest standards. The hotel follows strict hygiene protocols, which made me feel safe and comfortable throughout my stay.
Overall, my experience at Crowne Plaza Kowloon East was nothing short of exceptional. With its great location, spacious rooms, outstanding service, delicious food, and high standards of cleanliness, it is easily one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Hong Kong. Whether you are visiting for business or leisure, I highly recommend this hotel for an...
Read moreI would normally give this hotel 4 or even 5 stars, but due to several key issues during our stay, my rating is significantly lower.
Let me start with something basic: there was no drinking water provided in the room. The minibar only included soft drinks like Coca-Cola and canned teas. For water, they placed a small filtration device in the room and expect guests to use that. It had no visible filter or sanitation mechanism. While we drank it and thankfully had no health issues, it’s certainly not what I’d expect from a hotel at this level.
The breakfast area was freezing cold. They run the air conditioning so strongly that guests are forced to eat wearing jackets and coats. Especially near the end of breakfast hours (e.g., approaching 10 AM), they blast the air conditioning to the point where it feels like a walk-in freezer. As a family traveling with a child, this was very uncomfortable. I even took a photo (with faces blurred for privacy) to show how extreme it was.
One reason we booked this hotel was its large lobby with comfortable seating, which looked perfect for working or relaxing. In reality, the entire hotel was freezing. I had to sit in the lobby wearing two jackets, and I was still cold. The main entrance door is constantly left open, making it feel colder inside than it is outside. Still, I had to stay and work there because there was absolutely no proper workspace elsewhere in the hotel.
If you’re a business traveler, or someone with skin sensitivity, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The air in the rooms is very dry, which can be irritating. There was also a light odor in the hallways and rooms, but our room had an air freshener which seemed to help.
The rooms themselves were clean and spacious, and I appreciated the housekeeping team, door staff, and front desk—they were all helpful.
But again, the biggest downside of this hotel is the lack of comfortable space to sit or work. It felt like the hotel was designed for cold rather than comfort. Every floor is a restaurant, which isn’t a problem on its own, but even the restaurants are kept freezing cold. I saw guests trying to enjoy wine or dinner while wearing winter coats indoors—something I genuinely don’t understand.
Another issue was during breakfast. A football team was staying at the hotel, and when some of the kids asked for eggs, the kitchen staff seemed annoyed. They prepared the eggs so slowly it felt intentional. I faced a similar situation. When I asked for eggs, the lady at the station kept delaying and started doing other tasks instead. After several minutes, I firmly said, “If you’re not going to make it, just tell me and I’ll leave.” Only then did she start cooking, and it took just 40 seconds. It felt like she was trying to make a point or punish the guest for asking.
Maybe people reading this will think I complain about eggs in every hotel—trust me, I don’t. It’s not about eggs; it’s about service, attitude, and professionalism.
In summary: The hotel has its strengths—clean rooms, helpful front desk—but the freezing temperatures, lack of guest-friendly spaces, and unprofessional breakfast service ruined the experience for us. If these issues hadn’t occurred, I would have gladly given 4 or 5 stars. But due to everything mentioned above, I’m leaving this as a...
Read moreThis was my first visit back to Hong Kong after a gap of 4 years and I use Tseung Kwan O as my base. I've stayed at this particular hotel when it opened several years ago and chose this hotel again because the Holiday Inn Express was closed down for refurbishment. The hotel continues to have been well maintained to a high standard and has come off the back of being a designated quarantine hotel. It is very handy for the MTR (subway) station and the Popcorn shopping mall which are near by, being 5 minutes walk away. For those coming from the airport, a red taxi takes approx 45 minutes and the Airport Express/MTR approx 1 hour. After checking out, I took the MTR to Po Lam Station (2 stops) nd then walked approx 8 minutes to the bus station nearby to catch the A29 airport bus (allow approx 90 minutes end to end). People say that this town is far away from downtown Central or Tsim Tsa Tsui for example, but with the various travel options, I would say it isn't.
I booked a high floor room and was assigned a room on the 45th floor away from the lift which I requested. The room was spacious and very clean with a decent view of the town and beyond. The bed wasn't too bad with the mattress being reasonably firm. Guests booking these rooms have a compact fridge which came in useful and was stocked with 5 free of charge complimentary drinks (combination of soft drinks and lager). The bathroom was a good size with separate bath tub, shower and toilet. Other standard items included tea/coffee making facilities (not many sachets of tea, coffee, Chinese tea), although a coffee machine would have been a nice touch, iron/ironing board, slippers. There was a decent storage area for luggage and clothes hanging. I didn't use the restaurants in the hotel so am unable to comment. Housekeeping was efficient and unobtrusive - I opted for my bed to be made for every day for the duration of my stay, although they kindly changed the bath towel and foot mat every day. I would have been happy for things to be left as is.
Price wise - I would suggest that the room rate for IHG members could be more competitive. Especially those booking the higher floor rooms. Maybe the hotel should look to build in brekafast into the room rate like the Holiday Inn Express used to? With the environment being high on the agenda, perhaps rooms can be provided with a separate bin for the recyclable items - I left the mineral water bottles, cardboard, cartons in a separate pile for the housekeeper and I hope they may have understood why this was being done. Staff were efficient and courteous.
The only downside was the loud music and guests staying in the next room for 1 evening. I get that people are enjoying their time but be half mindful of other guests in adjacent rooms and and have some common sense as to noise levels without having to be told. Reception handled it reasonably well, presumably with a phone call to that room which worked for a short while (approx 30 minutes) before the noise started again for a short period of time, altogether the noise lasted around 3 hours. Not...
