I had 40 minutes to kill while waiting for my bicycle to be repaired at Sunny’s Bike Shop in Ma Wan Chung, a fishing village located just outside Yat Tung housing estate in western Tung Chung.
Man Wan Chung is a quaint, quiet, and charming, but fading fishing village ostensibly with a long history (check Wikipedia). With striking water views, interesting architecture, scattered throughout the village are creative, eye-catching wall paintings and murals.
There are a few restaurants in town, a Filipino product store, a few hair salons, and of course, Sunny’s bike shop where you can rent bicycles to further facilitate your explorations.

Located on Lantau Island and literally behind Tung Chung, this little gem is worth a visit.
I entered from the pier end, walking past the boats and houses that have served the people of the village so well.
Crossing the concrete foot bridge, you enter into the more "modern " section of the village that has restaurants, hair salons and other daily necessities for the small population.
Take some time out of your day to visit Ma Wan Chung, which for me has a lot more of an authentic, original feel to it.
