One of my favourite modes of transport in Hong Kong. It’s ultra convenient but sometimes there are snags and the wait can be long.
Some of the trams are very old and quite bumpy, also very noisy.
During rush hours, it can get squishy.
The only thing I don’t like are the trams have no air conditioning, so can be quite uncomfortable in the hot days. I did get on one with air conditioning recently, hope they will have more
I took a time lapse video of a complete journey from Kennedy Town to Shaukiwan. Had to split it up. Enjoy.
Hong Kong Trams, also known as "Ding Dings," are a famous form of public transport. They are owned and operated by RATP Dev, a French company. The system has a very long history, running on Hong Kong Island since 1904.
The trams travel on a fixed route along the northern coast of Hong Kong Island, from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan.
There are two main types of trams. The most common are the daily trams used by commuters. There is also a special vintage tram called the "Happy Tram," which is used for private tours and parties.
The fare for a ride is very affordable, making it one of the cheapest ways to travel in the city. Payment is made by cash or Octopus card upon exiting.
Hong Kong Trams have an excellent reputation. They are loved for being a cheap, reliable, and nostalgic way to see the city. They are not just transportation but a moving icon and an important part of Hong...

A better view of the entire tram terminus can be seen by the windows on the 1/F of the McDonald. This street corner is relatively quiet without too much traffic. Ever changing sunlight and colourful trams would be sufficient to make this...
