Mong-Ha Fort — Attraction in Nossa Senhora de Fátima

The Mong Ha Fortress and hilltop is a quite area of Macau that is now a public space. The hill and old fort is a bit far north for most visitors but we consider it an interesting place to spend time if you have done the rounds of popular attractions and are looking for something new and different to see in Macau.

At Mong Ha hill you can find walkways near the walls of the old Portuguese fort, which was formally abandoned in the 1960s upon agreement between the China and Portugal. Historically, the Portuguese had a fort constructed here after the first Opium War in 1841. Completed in 1866, the fort served the purpose of discouraging Chinese incursion upon Portuguese controlled Macau.

Unfortunately, compared to Monte Forte in the Historic City Centre, there is very little to see of the old Mong Ha fort. Also, views from the walking paths here are less preferred to what you can find at Guia Hill, nearer to the historic city centre. However, they are not bad.

望廈炮台（或稱望廈山炮台、蓮峰山炮台）是位於澳門望廈山市政公園之古老炮台。由於位處海拔60米高的望廈山上，故曾是葡萄牙殖民地時期的軍事防禦據點之一。

望廈炮台初建於1849年（清道光二十九年），1864年－1866年（清同治三年）重修落成。望廈炮台由澳門總督亞馬留負責監督興建，是為葡萄牙在澳門實施殖民主義之後第一座興建之炮台。昔日是澳門重要的軍事防禦據點之一，可裝置10門大炮，其位置可俯瞰澳門關閘一帶地區之活動。1960年，望廈炮台停止使用。曾駐有來自葡屬非洲的士兵，故又稱黑鬼山。

在望廈山東麓、俾利喇街以東澳廣視對面，有一兵營，但於2008年面對保留的呼聲仍然被拆毀，現已建成社會房屋望賢樓。

望廈炮台佔地約700平方米，形狀為矩形，而門口旁的火藥庫則是圓形。炮台圍牆身為花崗石，約有6米高。炮台的入口寬2.5米，高3米，門是厚木門，入口屋頂則鋪設長麻石。其入口的圍牆上設有11個槍眼，另炮台上設有一個高出平台4米的混凝土觀察台。炮台內，有通道通往附近之火藥庫和觀察台。與澳門區內的其他炮台不同，此炮台的炮口是...

此炮台雖然高度不怎麼高，但四周都高樓大廈遮擋，導致炮台四周都沒有甚麼風景，同時內部缺乏歷史介紹，不推薦游客去。
