Few days ago I was staying with my friend at the Fu Hua Guang Dong Hotel on the island of Macau. The hotel is situated not too far from most attraction of the island (15-20 minutes walk). However, the hotel turned out to be a run-down object: While the lobby and the hallway makes a good impression, the quality of the room is insufficient: The lights are not bright enough – not the central light from the ceiling. The “room light” is a small light near the window. The walls were dirty. Dirt/dust was piling up underneath the beds. The sliding doors of the only closet were not functioning properly. The only shelf in that closet was full with additional blankets and pillows; there was not space to the clothes from 2 people. The bath tub was rusty The drainage of the bathtub/shower did not work properly; we always stood in a paddle of water when showering It was impossible to take a bath since the stopper of the bathtub was broken. And the wall beside a relative new (but also slightly rusty) shower handle was the rusty remain of another piece (assumingly from a previous shower handle). In all wet areas the space between the tiles was moldy. The taps of the shower could not be closed completely; the water was dripping day and night. The internet was extremely weak. I was able to get internet in the first night. The second evening I got internet just after a long period of trials. And on the entire third day (morning and evening) that I could not get any internet connection, which was very bad since I had to do the online check-in that evening. The only good thing on that room was the size. It is was potentially quite; but there were always some noisy guests that made it impossible to me to sleep through the night uninterrupted. Additionally, before I arrived I try to contact them twice. But I never got any response despite I got the notice that request was forwarded to them. In summary, this hotel is not recommended at...
Read moreSo outdated! I struggle to understand how this is a 3 star hotel.
Upon arrival everything took extremely long. I’ve stayed in many hotels before and it never took that long. Not sure whether they couldn’t find the booking or what other issues they had. But the person dealing with us kept going from one computer to another and even asking something to her colleague. We stayed pretty high up which would’ve been cool but Macao skyline doesn’t have much to offer unless you’re in a fancy area downtown. The floor we stayed on had a nasty old smell as if the stale cigarette smell from 20 years ago hasn’t been aired out. The room was very dated. The TV wasn’t connected as a TV but to some internet box and it was very hard to watch anything without waiting for it to buffer every 2 minutes. There were barely any amenities. No shampoo or conditioner. Tissue box sticky on one side as the side panel is missing. No coffee sachets! Only 2 teabags of some cheap tea. No sugar or teaspoons. The aircon was stuck on 18 degrees. You can set it to any temperature you want but it won’t go above 18 so room was very cold. The whole shelf and spotlight dedicated to some stone statue was bizarre. At least it was cheap and relatively clean...
Read moreThe hotel is very conveniently located if you want to access the ruins of St Paul and the attractions near to it. The front desk staff are very friendly and supportive . We had our room on the 21 floor with some splendid views of the Grand Lisboa. The room was a bit old , yet the hotel is very reasonably priced and the size of the room is really good! The room is also very clean with water and amenities (dental kits, combs and soap) provided. The bed was really comfortable ! There are lots of small restaurants nearby , the 24 hour macdonalds and Cafe de Coral are just across the street! It’s a bit hard to catch a taxi from the hotel so we asked a front desk staff member and he kindly helped us ! The taxi was there in no time . All in all, a pleasant stay . Will consider staying at the Fua Hua again...
