If you're in downtown Shanghai, you have to go up the IFC tower, the 2nd tallest tower in the world! It may not set a record for the tallest but the elevator goes over 60km/h and is the fastest in the world. Prices were very reasonable, with a ticket to the top costing only 180RMB ($33 CAD) and even the drinks at the top were not very expensive. Please preorder ticket!! Not sure where you can do it but I bought it on their Chinese app - 大众点评 which requires Alipay or Wechat pay.
