Mirador al Norte - Monserrate — Attraction in Bogota, Capital District

This is a lovely place to explore. It is beautiful with multiple decorations around the paths from the train station past statues of the stations of the cross and up to the monastery. There are also lovely views of Bogota below.

We took the train up, then walked the trail down. The tram was not active when we visited. The train is not a traditional train - it climbs the mountain side at a steep angle. It has large windows in the ceiling to easily see the natural beauty around you.

The trail was in excellent condition when we hiked it, but it can be difficult. It has many steps. There were a number is stalls selling food and water...

Monserrate is such an incredible place. When you get up there, the view is just breathtaking. You can see all of Bogotá from the top, and it’s especially stunning at sunset.

Getting there is pretty easy – you can take a cable car, which is super convenient, or if you’re feeling adventurous, there’s a hiking trail. The hike can be a bit challenging, but the effort is totally worth it.

At the top, there’s a beautiful monastery that adds to the spiritual atmosphere, and the building itself is really lovely. There are also some restaurants and stands where you can grab some local food after your visit.

Just a heads up, it can get quite crowded, especially on weekends, so if you can, try to go during less busy times. And don’t forget to check the weather before you go, because it can change quickly up there.

Overall, Monserrate is a must-visit if you’re in Bogotá – it’s a place that beautifully combines nature, culture, and unforgettable views.

Monserrate es un lugar increíble. Cuando llegas a la cima, la vista es simplemente impresionante. Puedes ver toda Bogotá desde arriba, y es especialmente hermosa al atardecer.

Llegar allí es bastante fácil: puedes tomar un teleférico, que es muy conveniente, o si te sientes aventurero, hay un sendero para caminar. La caminata puede ser un poco desafiante, pero el esfuerzo realmente vale la pena.

En la cima, hay un monasterio hermoso que añade a la atmósfera espiritual, y el edificio en sí es muy bonito. También hay algunos restaurantes y puestos donde puedes probar comida local después de tu visita.

Solo un aviso: puede estar bastante lleno, especialmente los fines de semana, así que si puedes, intenta ir en horarios menos concurridos. Y no olvides revisar el clima antes de ir, porque puede cambiar rápidamente allí arriba.

En general, Monserrate es una visita obligada si estás en Bogotá; es un lugar que combina hermosamente naturaleza, cultura y vistas...

This place is ridiculous. Will def get clicks on ur insta and tiktok. Views galore and some cool statues. Little bit of an incline to get to the base from our hotel. Worth it. Remember than bogota is at 8k so warning on motion sickness. Gondola is packed and not COVID friendly but it’s at endemic stage now so new normal....
