Nestled high atop a hill overlooking the picturesque city of Bogota and the majestic Andes Mountains, Restaurante Casa San Isidro is an extraordinary dining experience that transports you to another world. To reach this gastronomic gem, one must embark on a brief but memorable journey via the Cerro de Monserrate cable car, a thrilling ride that only costs around 2 dollars USD and takes a mere 4 minutes. Once you step off at the summit, you are greeted with a view that is nothing short of breathtaking.
Our visit to this remarkable restaurant was made even more special by the impeccable service provided by Octavio. He personified elegance and thoughtfulness, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, it was evident that we were in for something truly extraordinary.
Seated on the indoor patio, we were treated to a view that words can hardly describe. Sipping on house-made sangrias as we looked out over the sprawling city of Bogota was nothing short of mesmerizing. But it was the food that truly stole the show.
I opted for the roasted duck, a dish that turned out to be a culinary masterpiece. The succulent duck was perfectly complemented by a manderin citrus sauce that added a delightful tangy zest to every bite. The flavors danced on my palate, creating an unforgettable taste sensation.
My partner had the Filet Mignon, which was nothing short of perfection. Cooked to the exact degree of doneness requested, it was tender, juicy, and simply divine.
Eating at Restaurante Casa San Isidro felt like dining amongst the gods on Mount Olympus. The combination of the ethereal location, attentive service, and the culinary delights made this an experience of a lifetime. The restaurant managed to seamlessly blend breathtaking natural beauty with culinary excellence, creating a memory that will linger in our hearts and taste buds for years to come.

Read moreI went today to have a nice meal with family and friends. The entry was quite odd, there was an unmanned gateway with a ribbon, fortunately, someone came out at the time and helped us in. The menu looked great on paper, so we picked and chose a few options after being told which items were unavailable. I wasn’t sure why they would be out of chicken, but OK. I ordered the set menu, which probably was the worst choice overall. It was a four-course meal, but the temperature, sizing, and cooking were all wrong. They didn’t reset my spot to accommodate the food I ordered so I was missing the proper utensils. The wine we ordered was out of stock, and they did offer a good alternative, which wasn’t too bad, but they really didn’t mention the price difference.
The place is quite nice and rustic. The service was good, but the food flavor, temperature, and portions were not on point. They served two of the courses cold, like really cold. The main course was quite small, it felt like it was another appetizer.
I didn’t make a fuss about it but still felt that the experience was not very good. We were all expecting more for the price. I would definitely not go again and don’t recommend the place. It’s a shame because the location is superb, but the food and eating experience is quite poor.
I also had a hard time with the reservations. Since our party was of 10 people, between phone calls, emails, and websites, it was clear that they didn’t really have a process to manage the reservations and received three different responses to the same question when made to three different people.
The one redeemable part of the experience was the preferred line. Getting there and parking was horrendous, but at least we were moved to the front of the queue going up and down.
The bottom line, it’s an overpriced underwhelming eating experience with just ok food in a great location.
Update: (-1 Star) Someone from my party confided in me how food and stomach did not agree and was forced to endure quite an unpleasant...
Read morePerhaps the worst service I have experienced in my life and disappointingly this happened when we were trying to enjoy a nice lunch to celebrate my girlfriend's 30th birthday.
We came to Restaurante Casa San Isidro filled with excitement to celebrate my girlfriend's 30th birthday with her family. We had travelled to Bogotá especially for the occasion. From start to finish we were let down time and time again by the poor service.
We had booked through the WhatsApp displayed on the website to dine at 1.30pm and upon arriving at the station to get the cable cars to the restaurant we were told we didn't have a reservation, despite showing them the messages we had received in the chat which stated it was booked.
When we arrived the staff were unhelpful, I had bought a bouquet of flowers for my girlfriend for her birthday so she brought them with her to get photos at the restaurant and Monseratte. Despite there being noticeably not enough space on the table for the flowers alongside the plates the staff didn't offer to take them for her temporarily or to place them next to the table.
After being shown to a table, we still had no water brought to the table 20 minutes after arriving. We had to ask for the waiter to bring the water to the table. The bread was not brought out before the mains but with the mains because they had clearly forgotten to bring it out beforehand as a starter. The staff didn't notice that we had drank all of our water and needed to be asked twice to bring more water to the table.
I asked if it would be possible for one of the members of staff to bring a special desert as we were there to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. This was not included as a gift and we were charged for this on the bill.
We were not asked if we wanted to tip and the tip had already been added to the bill so I asked for it to removed.
I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone and if I heard of someone wanting to go I'd recommend them to...
