Imperial Fountain — Attraction in Grad Zadar

The Imperial fountain was built in 1546 and was used to supply Venetian ships and local population with fresh water. It is located on the sea promenade Kolovare in the city district of Arbanasi. The Imperial fountain was built on the ancient site during the Renaissance period, which was very rich in water resources used by the locals and supplying ships. The fountain has been thoroughly renovated in the 18th century when it was built in stone in front of the stone pier. The fountain is a circular building with a vaulted brick ceiling (880 cm in diameter and 795 cm high). One part of its wall is open to the sea, and decorated with pillars and arches of finely carved stone. A well in the middle of the fountain was built in the shape of an irregular octagon, while the beautiful stone pier extends in front of the fountain. This place is just out there with out any significance. Not maintained at all. As lot of other travellers mentioned it is not very clean sea near by. One can click some good photos that's the only reason one would like to...

A little difficult to locate without the use of Google maps. It has a beautiful voulted ceiling and looks at the sea across a stone pier. Small fishing boats bob lazily across the dock and one could sit there...
