Review of Kolovare Beach in Zadar:
Kolovare Beach in Zadar is a picturesque and tranquil spot that comes highly recommended, especially if you're looking for a relaxing escape during the hot days of July. Surrounded by lush pine and olive trees, the beach offers a refreshing oasis where visitors can unwind and rejuvenate amidst nature's beauty.
One of the standout features of Kolovare Beach is the availability of sun beds for rent at a reasonable price of 10 Euros. These sun beds can be placed under the shade of the trees or ready-installed umbrellas, providing a comfortable spot to soak up the sun or simply relax while enjoying the cool breeze.
The crystal-clear waters of the beach are perfect for swimming, with a noticeable level of cleanliness that adds to the overall appeal of the area. Swimmers can venture out to the buoy line for a more adventurous experience or simply enjoy a leisurely dip in the refreshing sea.
Conveniently located on the beach is a coffee shop where visitors can purchase refreshing drinks, water, and ice cream to stay cool and hydrated throughout the day. Additionally, within walking distance, there are a couple of restaurants serving a variety of dishes, including pizzas and traditional local cuisine, providing options for a satisfying meal after a day of sun and sea.
Overall, Kolovare Beach in Zadar offers a delightful blend of natural beauty, convenience, and relaxation. Whether you're seeking a peaceful spot to unwind under the shade of trees, a refreshing swim in clean waters, or a delicious meal at a nearby restaurant, this beach is sure to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience for visitors...
Read moreA wonderful public beach close to the historic Zadar city center. Kolovare beach has earned the blue flag for it's amenities and tidiness of both the beach and the sea itself. The amenities on the beach include multiple bars and restaurants, water obstacle course for children, kayak and paddle boat rental, massages, beach volleyball courts, life guard, showers, changing cabins and toilets. There are plenty trees which provide natural shade. A lot of people visit this beach, but I wouldn't call it overcrowded. You are able to find a spot for your beach blanket and belongings even on busier days. As for the sea, it is quite calm and the water is very clear. It is a pebble beach/sea floor, so I would recommend wearing water shoes, as walking on small pebbles can be a bit annoying for some. However, a lot of people didn't wear anything on their feet and they were fine. At the start, the water is quite shallow, which is perfect for younger children. A bit further, the small pebbles turn into bigger rocks and the water gets deep to the point where you can't reach the seafloor. At this point, sea urchins also start appearing. With swimming goggles, you can observe small fish swimming around, even at the shallower parts. Overall, this beach is perfect for everyone - from families with young children, young people looking for fun and drinks to the elderly looking...
Read moreNice beach-like area less than 10 minutes from Zadar's centre with spaces to sit or lie down and access to the sea.
I spent most of the time in the area closest the centre near the Kolovare swimming pool, which has no sand and features paved waterfront, access to water by ladders and grassed or wooden boarded areas to relax on. There are no public amenities around, but you can walk about 200m to the nearby restaurant & cafe bar and buy something to drink or eat or use the bathroom.
Be cautious, because swimming in this part can be less fun if the sea is not calm as the incoming waves smash into the waterfront's concrete wall.
This part was also less crowded and I was always able to find a comfortable place to relax at any time of the day in mid-October (which, btw, is a great time to visit Zadar as there are less tourists and it's still...
