Kamencové jezero is a lake in the municipal area of Chomutov, Czech Republic. It is artificial in that it came into being due to 18th century mining. Kamencové jezero, at an altitude of 337 m, was caused at the end of the 18th century by flooding the mines used between the 16th and 18th centuries.

Today was one of those late hot summer days that was well into the high 30s and looking for a place to cool off. So we decided to come here for our first time. And so did everyone else. We arrived at the west end of the lake where it was literally impossible to find a parking space. We ended up parking illegally and paid the consequences of getting a parking fine. We paid the entry fee of around 120 Czech crowns and entered to a very crowded beach area. The water was not very clean, at least what I'm used to anyway. The water was green with quite a stony beach. But this being a hot day did not dissuade anyone from swimming, except me. There are two beaches. One at each end. There is a restaurant, cafe, toilets, ice cream shop, good shade from trees and well maintained park areas. Also boat hire, piers, change rooms info signs and walks along the lake. The Alum Lake is just great for swimming in summer. Not only does the water have beneficial effects for your skin, but it also feels refreshing and soft. The surroundings of the lake are nice and green. You will find a sand beach here, but if you favor grass and less children around, you will find it just a few steps away among the lake. Changing booths are available among the lake, too. At the sand beach, you will find WC, and for my last visit, it was clean. Access to the lake is paid, but as I recall, it is not much. Very nice place for rest, swimming, sunbathing and relaxation. There are 2 sandy beaches on the opposite sides of the lake, camp, refreshment points, open shower next to the beach. Near the beach there are wooden platform, so you may easily reach the depth in the water without walking through the beach side. I liked that there is a large green zone area, lots of trees with paths, so you could take a nice walk around the lake. Its all clean and cultivated.
