UPDATED Still has a great selection. Prices have increased (that's happened everywhere) Customer service has gotten a bit better, and they do have the best variety/selections for grocery items... so I've increased the stars to 3.
ORIGINAL POST Great selection of items. Their produce, meats/chicken, deli and other packaged items, etc... 10/10!!! Clean... safe area. Great place to shop. However, customer service is lacking. Severely. I returned a fan because it stopped working. It has a 6 month guarantee. Instead of just giving me an exchange (easiest option), they are going to try to fix it. Ok. I leave the fan. They called 9 days later and told me the fan was fixed and to come pick it up. I arrived at 3:10pm. After waiting 15 minutes someone helped me (3:25). After explaining what I was there for, he left to the "warehouse" to find the fan. I never saw him again. Then at 3:45pm I found another person and told him he should go find his coworker because I was SURE he was hurt or something, cause he never returned. Coworker 2 proceeds to tell me that coworker 1 brought the fan back about 10 minutes ago and then left ("left" as in he left for the day). I never moved from where I was standing, I stayed in the same place those 20 minutes. Yet, he couldn't come find me... I was one row over from where he left the fan, to let me know the fan was there. OK. So this new worker tells me that I can take it and leave, but he wants to check that it is working. Fine. But first, he needs to pull it up on his computer, which, of course, has just shut down. After pulling up the information, we go plug the fan in. He plugs it in and nothing. He tries at another plug. Nothing. Now he tells me that I will need a credit and has to find his boss. He takes my paperwork and leaves. By now it is 4:00. I don't see this guy for another 25 minutes. When he returns he is visibly upset (even with his mask on, I can tell). That's fine. I am too. He has no help in the department (even though at the customer service desk there were 4 people just sitting there - I'm sure one of them could have come back to help- my husband was in the front and counted) And now there are 3 other people who need help. He is still waiting for his boss to OK the credit. After another 5 minutes, his boss appears, who now tells me I should have gotten an exchange all along. He looks for a new fan. Grabs the box and says he wants to make sure it's working, so he wants to open it and plug it in. But needs my original paperwork, which was taken from me by coworker #2. After testing the new fan, and the coworker bringing back my paperwork, I finally left at 4:48pm.
Moral of the story? Do not try to return anything. Just...
Read moreWent to jumbo for a toaster oven. They were all on the shelves but none were in boxes. I had to wait 15 minutes just to get an employee to tell me that you can not remove the items from the shelf and check out. They have to go get it out of inventory. That requires a phone call, and another 15 minutes just to find out if the product is in stock. This item was out of stock. I was then told I could get the display item. I agreed. They said they would get the box which had the scan code on it that I needed to check out. After another 20 minutes the box arrived. I then asked the employee if I needed to Bring the 20% off sign on the oven to the register. He said no. It is no longer on sale and the sign should have been taken down. But obviouly it was not and I would not have stayed there over an hour to purchase this item. He said he would speak to the manager since the sign was still up, it was a display item and I waited well over an hour. The manager in Puerta Plata could care less that I spent over an hour to buy a falsely advertised out of box item. His response to the on sale sign...."sorry". The manager should be fired. I...
Read moreThis is one of three large supermarkets in Puerto Plata. Jumbo and nearby La Sirena are both supermarkets and department stores. You can find everything from electronics, toys, shoes, clothes, personal hygiene products, local and international foods, beer, wine, liquor, deli, butcher, bakery, prepared meals, and more. Prices are reasonable with weekly discounts on products.
They have a range of international staples such as rice paper, Asian sauces, rice and noodles, Mexican options such as tortilla, tacos, beans, and seasonings. They have some heat and eat options for Indian and other Asian food like packaged noodles.
One of the things that I most appreciate is the bagging and curbside service. The employees that help bag the purchase also bring the items to your car or moto. Make...
