Museo de las Madres Conceptas — Attraction in Cuenca

The notion of “heritage” museum is not evident 🫤🫤🫤🫤. As a once residence of nuns, within in convent it is located, this “museum” is very poorly conceived.

It does NOT really give a visitor the sense of what life was like in a cloistered compound.

🫤 Most of rooms are locked OR empty spaces.

🫤 For a “museum”, there are not real exhibits of things associated with a nunnery or whatever religious order those nuns belonged too.

🫤🫤🫤 The main exhibits are icons that look like plastic or resin, many of the icons and idols are like a child’s doll collection.

👍 The single most attractive exhibit is a sculpture or 3D artistic “modernized” and imagined rendition of the birth of Jesus; NOT a manger but a palace.

On the lower part of this rendition are miniatures of European soldiers. Then below that are bizarre (and grotesque) miniatures of beheadings.

👍 In another room are exhibits of gigantic chests and a nice chair….

Another room is a recreation of a sick room or infirmary….

There’s also the kitchen, from what looks like the 1930s-1950s.

Things like these would have been of interests.

👏👏👏 The interior courtyard gardens looked well maintained.

The whole place needs to be re-imagined/// totally...

Interesting collection of unique artwork and artifacts displayed in a patrimonial historic house. Creepy dolls. Child sacrifice and graphic violence. Original oil paintings on linen. Pretty gardens with a visiting hummingbird. No entrance fee posted. I asked if there was a donation and told it was $3.50. I think this is price is high, but if you are a history buff, you will see a lot of original art never seen in major...

El museo y su colección está bien, pero la organización es un desastre. Viajé desde Quito en el feriado específicamente para conocer el museo, hacerme una limpia y viajar al Cajas, pero gracias a la falta de seriedad del Museo no pude hacer los dos últimos. Pagué el boleto que incluía la visita al museo y la limpia en su interior, pero debido a la sobre venta de boletos me fue imposible realizar la limpia el día viernes, me dieron otro ticket para hacerme la limpia el día sábado y me aseguraron que lo harían sin problema, pospuse mi viaje al Cajas, fui al museo nuevamente el día sábado, hice fila por aproximadamente 2 horas y resulta que se acabaron los huevos !si, los huevos!, por esto no pudieron hacerme la limpia nuevamente. Perdí mi fin de semena en la ciudad, no conocí el Cajas y ahora solo me queda hacer las maletas para volver a casa. Gracias por la desagradable experiencia en la linda ciudad de Cuenca. Espero mejoren su servicio para que a más visitantes no les...
