The place is clean and you get more than enough room (at least in the 5-beds dormitory). Nevertheless the staff as been very helpful when asked for tourism information regarding the city. The included breakfast is quite good (you get to choose among several options) and quantity is decent. Regarding the 5-beds dormitory, the beds can't be put along the walls which create a space between the bed and the walls. It is quite annoying when you are on the top bunk bed since it does not allow to store things (water, phone, etc.) in the bed at night without a risk for your stuff to fall on the ground. Nevertheless, the bed itself is very comfortable. There is no storage space for people one the top bunk bed. There is no electric plug accessible for top bunk bed. By the way, the ones on the grounds level are in a shape that is not the most common. You may need a specific adapter (but those in the common area / restaurant are fine and there are plenty of them). The Wi-Fi connection is correct (sometimes very slow and other times in the average). Regarding the shower, it might be hard to get...
Read moreLa Cigale|My 13 year old son and I spent 2 weeks at La Cigale|It’s a charming small hostel with restaurant and bar.|The location is great- in the old town- walking distance to all important sights, museums and the parque de la madre.|Our room was cute and cozy and super clean. Beautiful bathroom. |Mattress was comfortable. Room was made each day and and we got fresh linen and towels every other day. We felt very comfortable. |The staff is super friendly and accommodating. |The walls of the rooms are quite thin, so we could hear the music all the time. But we loved the playlist, so it was fine for us.|A simple breakfast is included but for few dollars you have lots of options to upgrade |We had dinner there quite often- so I guess we had almost every dish on the menu at least once and we liked them all. |Would be nice to have a “hang out spot” on the roof terrace with some Hammocks or beanbags though. |We loved our stay and my well travelled son said it was one of his best experiences so far. |Thank you to Victor, Luis, Anna and all the others for a...
Read moreHostel which saved my night. I was going to stay in Cuenca only for a few hours however due to problem with a bus I had to stay a whole day (and night). There was some event in the city so every accommodation was fully booked. At the end, by accident, I got a bed in a shared room and it was really nice. Location is great, just in the city centre. There's a bar downstairs so it's noisy till 1am but if you're tired and/or have earplugs it shouldn't be a problem as there's no annoying bass. Room was clean, bed comfortable, bathroom in the room and they offer a luggage storage. There's no shared kitchen but I got hot water to make a tea and tasty breakfast in the morning. However, the best is the staff. I met few of them and all were amazing. So friendly and helpful. Thank you
BTW the bar looks nice and it's highly popular. I regret I was too tired to check...
