Where Situated just behind the Parliament House in Helsinki, within walking distance of landmarks such as Temppeliaukio Church and the Natural History Museum.

What & How (Experience Details) Taidehalli is one of my two favourite museums in Helsinki, and for good reason. The venue is architecturally inspiring, with lofty ceilings, spacious rooms, and a distinctive atmosphere thanks to its beautifully creaky, living wooden floors. Exhibitions change regularly and often focus on contemporary or experimental art, offering fresh perspectives with each visit.

The overall experience is calm and unhurried, with a layout that encourages reflection and space to engage with the works without distraction.

What & How (Service Details) Staff are friendly and professional, and the museum environment is well-kept and easy to navigate. Information is presented clearly but unobtrusively, allowing the focus to remain on the art itself. As a small curiosity: in the men’s restroom, there remains an old-style pissoir - a vintage feature where visitors stand side by side at a shared urinal wall.

How Much (Price) Standard admission is €20. Entry is also included with the Museokortti (currently €86/year), which provides access to a wide network of museums throughout Finland - excellent value for frequent visitors.

Excellent museum space well maintained. Right now there is the Tom of Finland exhibit which was excellent. The museum exhibit was well laid out, information cards were available in multiple languages without overwhelming the visitor with information. The exhibition is well spaced out so it doesn't feel crowded or cluttered. The small gift shop also sells a lot of goods related to the exhibition which surprised me how much they carried in store. Käytiin täällä joulukuun lopulla 2023. Käytettiin museokorttia. Tultiin sisälle " lokki"ovesta. Saimme lippumme heti oven luona olevasta museokaupasta. Mieshenkilöltä Saimme erinomaista palvelua. Hänen iloinen, avoin asenne kirkasti päivää. Kipusimme jakkoskerrokseen jossa oli lokerikkoja vaatteille. Niissä oli itse ohjelmoitavat numero lukot. Hetki mietimme miten toimivat mutta saimme heti neuvoa nuoreltalta mieheltä ja homma sujui. Näitten kahden henkilön ansiosta tunsimme olevamme tervetulleita. Aloitimme Tove Janssonin pienellä näyttelyllä jossa oli esillä hänen seinämaalauksia. Tämän jälkeen siirryimme näyttelyhallin seuraavaan kerrokseen jossa oli esillä Haegue Yang kerroksellisia tulkintoja. Yrittelin lueskella mitä niistä oli kerrottu mutta se ei avautunut minulle. Nättejähän ne olivat ja hyvin laitettu esille.

Mutta Erkki Pirttolan monipuolinen näyttely oli tutustumisen arvoinen. Hän on monipuolinen taiteilija. Teoksia katsoi ja tutkia oikein mielellään. Ne herättivät ajatuksia.

Jaana Laakkosen näyttely ei avautunut minulle.

Näyttely on useammassa kerroksessa. Liikkumaan pääsi hissillä ja portaita pitkin.

Ajoittain itseäni häiritsi elokuvateattereitten kassalta tuleva popcornin haju.
