Finally, I had the chance to experience my dream sauna. Booking online was very convenient, and the staff on site were naturally polite and welcoming. I especially want to commend a male staff member from France, who maintained a professional, friendly, and approachable demeanor while ensuring our safety. This was particularly meaningful for me, as it was my first time plunging into the sea—a challenging and nerve-wracking experience. Thanks to his encouragement and reassurance, I was able to overcome my fear and complete the challenge. I am truly grateful to him.
Additionally, the overall facilities were modern and impressive. I especially loved the all-black sauna cabins. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Finland—it is truly a must-try.
I do have a small suggestion: since the four saunas generally have moderate temperatures, the outdoor sea-facing sauna in particular can quickly turn into a steam room when everyone adds water due to the lower heat. It might be helpful to have a staff member periodically check the temperature in each sauna. Of course, I understand that the temperatures cannot be too high for safety reasons, but with only two hours per visitor, it can be challenging to fully experience the contrast between hot and cold.It would also be beneficial if staff could monitor the saunas to prevent them from turning into steam rooms, helping to maintain a dry sauna environment.
Additionally, considering the natural sweating that occurs, perhaps introducing essential oils or improved ventilation could enhance the overall experience.
Overall, I give this experience 10 out of 10 hearts—it was nearly a perfect...
Read moreA really lovely place and if you’re not a native Finn and visiting Helsinki for a few days, a great place to go to have an authentic sauna.
At the end of the tramline, about ten minutes out of the main centre, Löyly stands alone near an outside gym and a Padel court.
It’s actually a restaurant as well, with the sauna only being part of it. I had to book a few days in advance, so be careful, you might need to do that, too.
I arrived, people were friendly and gave me a towel, a seat cloth for sitting on in the sauna and a key. There’s a very large sauna that easily holds twenty people of all different ages and body types and there’s nothing at all to be nervous or fearful of.
After a good twenty minutes in the sauna, I went down into the sea, via a set of steps. This was the end of May and, goodness me, it was literally breathtakingly cold. It felt amazing though.
They also have a dark, ‘smoke’ sauna and a large deck area. I sat outside for about 45-minutes and even though it wasn’t warm (11-12 degrees), the combination of the sauna and the water made it feel more than pleasant. There’s also an indoor fireplace area where people sit around talking in between going back in and out of the sauna and a bar - if you’re not Finnish, try the ‘Original Long Drink’ containing gin, lemon and grapefruit: delicious even if you normally hate grapefruit like me.
Overall this is a lovely place and well worth booking. The only thing that disappointed me was that it closed at 11 am, meaning everyone was asked to leave at about 10.50: I could easily have stayed for longer - I’m not sure whether there are just two-hour slots or whether I...
Read moreApparently they were setting up some private party at the restaurant for which we rudely got sent off. This was unwelcoming start.
The entrance to the sauna, right next to the restaurant but in the same building, was chaotic. Since we arrived early, and the restaurant turned out to be occupied for a private party, were told to wait in the hallway. A ridiculously narrow hallway with no place to sit. We were told to take off our shoes despite other people walking right past us with wet & muddy shoes. So now we had wet socks...
The staff themselves was inconsistent in enforcing their "no shoes" policy and they themselves dó wear shoes all over the place. (Just like 50% of the guests) Very unpleasant.
Note: forcing people to leave behind their shoes and jackets in an unlocked public place at their own risk is outrageous. This specifically makes me not want to return.
The sauna inside was disappointing. The door didn't close properly and the temperature was low.
The sauna outside was better although this door didn't open properly. Many people really struggled to open the door.
Outside is a possibility to take a dip in the seawater which was great. However quite dangerous considering the water was 3°c and zero staff on the lookout in case of an emergency.
You may think I'm exaggerating but at Allas Sea Pool there seemed to be continues supervision. And that's not even open sea. It just seemed irresponsible to me.
Although it may be a popular place, especially for tourists, it turned out disappointing to me.
I can only hope sharing my honest customer's experience is appreciated. Without honestly, nothing ever...
