It was my first time visiting Forsmay despite hearing about it for a while now and living 4 min away. I never thought I would need a change of butchery but when I entered I was impressed at how neat and upmarket the butchery was. The meat and chicken were of amazing quality. MJ was amazing & came out to personally explain to us how the butchery prep their meat and suggested some value for money choices as well. I love the fact that for someone like me who doesn't eat beef too, MJ explained the chicken and mutton are not mixed with beef, off course its Halaal but they explained they respect and cater for Hindu customers too and they use separate slicing machines to cut the mutton and beef separately. So it's perfect for the Hindu customers as well, besides catering Halaal. They stock a variety of pastries, pies, and other types of meat and chicken product variations too. I love their chicken cheese viennas. Also, their sweet pies, pastries and biscuit selection is great, as well as an authentic range of condiments & spices and they also stock Krea spices which I love. They stock a small range of Paul's ice cream as well as other speciality brands variations. We found some Fehmz mocktails which was great after a hot day. I have decided this is now my go to butchery. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Excellent service. I noticed they don't have price labels on their products but do have bar scanners at the front and end of the store to scan your products should...

This is not the 1st time I've experienced this problem with their mince...very very fatty and it becomes almost powdery when washed.
I stopped buying from them for this reason and went back to Forsmay after many years as i needed mince urgently and they were closer than Khan's butcher (my butcher of choice).
Needless to say... I was disappointed once again R187.00 later
Attached is a pic of the mince .. well you can't ACTUALLY see the mince..all you see is FAT floating...
Read moreI’m not from Johannesburg but when I do visit, Forsmay is a must stop for us. When it comes to wagyu, speak to Najeeb. He is very helpful. The butchery, is spacious and clean. Friendly and welcoming staff. I’ve tried many products but it’s so hard to choose because there’s a wide range available. The processed foods are delicious. The lamb sausages are so juicy and it’s not greasy at all. I especially enjoyed the Top Grill on a Saturday by Nuraaz. The price is reasonable and it was a tasty and hassle free experience. Next time,I’ll have to take one of each...
