Great food at a great price and also good service. Recommend the masala dosa, tattu dosa, onion uttapam, masala fried fish with Kerala paratha, Butter chicken with the chilli and garlic naan, Chicken Kondattom, Onion Pakodas, South Indian special tea and also the Bombay crush. Generally, everything on the menu is of a high standard for a reasonable price. A new recent thing I have found is to have the Andra Chicken Starter, but the portion size is huge and has a sort of gravy that makes it like a curry. It is really great value for money with you always having leftovers yet being under the starters section and priced as such as well. Lastly, it is also really really tasty and reminds me of the chicken kondattom but less spicy and with a lot less chillies. Highly recommended. I have to note that upon my last visit, there was a new menu with some price changes. Of particular note, the mutton bunny price changed from R85 to R115. I love their bunny BUT i cannot in all honesty recommend same at that price. As a Durbanite, who has been eating bunnies all my life, I have never paid (nor should you pay) more than R100 for a quarter bunny chow.

Food: Decent as far as Indian restaurants go; very Spicy. Price: Very reasonable; large protions Halaal: SANHA certified, Muslim owned Parking: Street parking is normally a nightmare, and often unsafe. Car guards are as much of a help as they are a menace. Park at the Oriental Plaza and walk/ Uber in and out if possible. Wheelchair ramp to pavement. Setting: acceptable. Not as crummy as the typical Indian restaurant in the area. But very much the vibe of being in a restaurant in India. The area is interesting but familiar, if you've visited the sub-continent. Favourite dish: N/A. My gold standard measurement for Indian restaurants is how their butter chicken compares to the old Delhi Palace, which incidentally was across the road. This was disappointing in that regard.

I’ve lost count the number of times that I have visited Dosa Hut and this is owning to the fact the food is just impeccable. Dosa Hut is situated in the heart of Fordsburg’s busiest streets which can be intimidating. Parking can be an issue. The restaurant is rather small and can become crowded and noisy which leads to having to wait for space but it’s every bit worth it. They specialise in all Indian cuisine with South Indian cuisine the main focus. The Dosas are a hit and a must eat along with the Thali. The food is always fresh, tasty, flavourful, spicy but not over the top (you can ask for hotter variants) and all round simply scrumptious. A must visit when you are in Johannesburg.

I ordered from Dosa Hut in Fordsburg through Uber Eats, expecting a delicious and satisfying meal. Unfortunately, what I got was a subpar experience that left me feeling disappointed and frustrated.

Firstly, the food was of poor quality. The dosas were stale and lacked the usual crispy texture that I've come to expect from this restaurant. The filling was bland and uninspired, with no attention to detail or care in the preparation. It was clear that the food was mass-produced and not made with any love or care.

But the issues didn't stop there. The packaging was a mess. The boxes were flimsy, messy and fell apart as soon as I opened them, spilling food all over my lap and the floor. It was like they had just thrown everything together without any care or attention to detail.

To make matters worse, some items were missing from the order. Yes, you read that right - missing items!

Overall, my experience with Dosa Hut through Uber Eats was a disaster. The food was poor quality, the packaging was messy, and some items were even missing. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I will definitely be thinking twice before ordering from them again.

Bustling vibe after 19:00 with groups of families and friends enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and great value food with sleeves rolled up and obvious familiarity with the venue. Bring a large appetite because the condiments are irresistible, and will at least equal your main course. Deep fried onions and deep fried cheese and deep fried eggplant. You notice a pattern? Gotta have the signature dosa. I could have had just dosa nine different ways and I would have been happy. Had the whole deep fried fish though - peer pressure and all... Tasty and pretty but a bit overdone and therefore too dry. I did not have the courage to use the fire-breathing sause provided as moisturiser. Tasted the chicken biryani and will be back for all of it. Staff are attentive to requests for heat adjustment on dishes. Lots of waiters, and prepared to help out at each other's tables without grumpiness. Avoid the fake chocolate milkshake but DO have the rose milk with ice cream. Venue a bit noisy because of all the hard surfaces so sit close enough to hear and to steal food off your...
