Read moreI generally love spur, it's awkward to complain but i do hope it gets to the right persons ear. Today was a special occasion it was a birthday celebration. We and a few family members decided it would be convenient to go to the Fordsburg branch. We arrived at 5.30 and was greeted by Moses. We told him we are waiting for other guests but so long he could bring us some starters, cheesy prawns, big three and a big bear combo. It was freezing cold we were told there are no heaters, Moses dragged his feet and disappeared. After much anticipated starters I was shocked to how the portion of the big bear combo had been reduced so drastically compared to the big three promo. In any case we started to eat, the steak and ribs was made with minimum care, it was just prepared average and taste did not resonate with the famous Spur ribs, their BBQ sauce bottles had diluted sauce that tasted like tomato sauce. There was no interest because it was cold restaurant was empty little to no effort to even check in if we needed to order drinks. Eventually some random waiter asked if we were okay and I asked if we could get a cheesy garlic roll, the roll I assume was just thrown into the microwave with a slice of cheese on the top. The lack of presentation or even food care was evident. My guests arrived waited there was no one available to even ask us if we were ready to order more food. My guests said just let it be, we brought our own little cake and decided to just enjoy the moment. My son then asked the waiter maybe bring him the do nut waffle, the doughnut was rock hard by now I could not take it, I called management she said oh that's a Pre cooked doughnut and that's how it's supposed to be. When she saw it for herself she realised they were so wrong.
Moral of this complaint it was a quiet evening they lost a big sale due to poor customer service and lack of care. I don't think their food is bad always but I do think they have bad shift staff that can ruin the business. I am disappointed they credited the doughnut and roll. How do they correct ugly attitude when people use Spur to celebrate some of life...
Read moreOn Sunday I had lunch with my family at the Spur,, the food was ok and the service from the waiter was fine. The waiter asked me and my family to use our phones download the spur rewards app and and apply. We did so then she asked for our phones so that she can show it, I assume to her manager so that we can get free desserts. She took our phones for almost 5 minutes, then she returned them and also apologised for taking so long being away with our phone. We had our desserts paid our bill and also paid the tip. When we stepped out of the restaurant going into the guy a guy just came behind me and grabbed my phone. The staff at Spur just stood there and watched me as I tried to pull the guy and grab my phone from his hand. The phone dropped on the floor, the guy picked up the phone as I was holding on to his t-shirt. A gold Toyota Etios car stopped next us and opened the door, the guy tossed my phones into the car and pushed me away. My child stood there screaming witnessing this whole incident. On the parking lot at that time there was a security guard fully dressed and uniform but he was washing someone's car. My phone was snatched away from me just after stepping out of Spur Fordsburg, the staff, the security guards just stood there and watched me being violated and no one did or say anything about it. I'm very worried about how everything happend most especially because my phone was exposed to I don't know how many people when I was applying for the app and for me targeted by thieves immediately after leaving the restaurant. I don't hink that this restaurant cares about the safety of it's customers, because how can I experience something so traumatic and everyone just turns a blind eye and then life goes on like...
