Have only ordered one or two things from here, which were okay but promising viz. the pizzas, pides and manakees. They were all quite tasty and filling, portions are quite generous and prices are very reasonable and quite cheap. I will update again once I have tried the burgers which looked proper, the chicken which looked super tasty and loaded with sauce and lastly their grills.

Just tried the full chicken and chips, and it was very very tasty. Was very impressed with the mix of spices that they used, wasn’t hot but very tasty. It is great value for money too in that it only cost R90 and fed 3 adults fully. I can’t wait to try their mixed grill.

Just had the Mexican burger at R60, which comes with chips and a 330ml Coke. The burger was well worth it, very tasty and a good amount of filling of a cheese slice, jalapeños, a slice of some sort of cold meat that added a good Smokey flavour to the burger and, lastly, the beef patty was not dry at all or minuscule like at McDonalds or Burger King. All in all, great value for money and way better than burgers at MCDs and BK at the same or even higher price points.

My wife had the quarter chicken that comes with a lavash bread, some garlic toumb and chips for only R30. It also had a proper amount of basting sauce on the chicken itself. It was also very tasty with a nice smoky flavour from the charcoal braai on the pavement where you can see your chicken being prepared. At this price point, this meal is a steal especially at a sit...

Great food - Absolutely loved the food and I am yet to have a bad experience food wise

Negatives - Service is Horrible. You will Wait a good 20 minutes sitting at a table waiting for a waiter or waitress to serve you, and then again for the food (waiting for the food is not the negative)

Unfortunately you will be pestered by homeless persons while you eat, and they sometimes come into the restaurant and to the tables

There are two toilets 1 allocated to ladies and the other to men, Its not really clean, the floors are wet, sometimes there's no toilet paper.

The food is genuinely good though and not badly priced.

UPDATE

AMAANS QUALITY AND SERVICE HAS SERVERELY DROPPED.

My family waited over an hour to be seated, another family came in and then seated themselves on at a table that they were clearing for us, they then sat us outside. The tables were utterly Filthly and we asked them to please wipe the tables and chairs but they didn't. Another family again eventually sat next to us and their table and chairs were cleaned before us.

We placed our order and waited like 60 minutes for the order just slightly over, only to be served RAW chicken. We were so utterly disappointed. None of us ate the chicken.

We generally go for the Avo And date drink, but even that was horrible. We were served like milk and dates and the drink had no taste at...

Amman seemed like a promising spot as we ventured in for lunch. The exterior exuded a welcoming ambiance, and the bustling crowd suggested a popular eatery. Despite the apparent busyness, we managed to secure a table for two, raising our expectations for a delightful dining experience.

Opting for the classic choice of chicken and chips, we eagerly placed our order. However, the server pleasantly surprised us with their honesty, informing us that the preparation would exceed a 30-minute wait. Considering our time constraints, regrettably, we had to cancel our order and venture to another establishment.

While the missed opportunity left us yearning to sample what Amman had to offer, the transparency of the server in communicating the delay was appreciated. The honesty in managing expectations and providing realistic wait times showcased a commendable level of customer service, setting them apart from experiences where such information might not be readily disclosed.

In retrospect, although we couldn't savor the anticipated meal at Amman, the sincere communication from the staff left a positive impression. We may not have tasted their dishes, but the integrity displayed by the server undoubtedly left a memorable mark on our...

So I decided to try Amman restaurant in Fordsburg after many good recommendations. We tried the pide, pizza, chicken and the Amman Burger. Everything was perfectly up to standard and the food is well prepared. I'm gonna talk mostly about the burger. Presentation: I think the picture speaks volumes about the presentation of the burger. The fact that is was a busy Sunday afternoon (just around lunchtime to be specific), they took great care in delivering a damn great looking burger. In fact, my brother who decided to pitch up and try the food came and sat at my table to stare at my burger as it was placed. He ordered it as well 😂 The taste: you've gotta take charge of this big fella as soon as they place it on your table so you get that melted cheese in your mouth. Now this is by no means a small burger. You get that fantastic middle eastern grilled patty taste coupled with the cheese, the juicy tomato and a nicely fried French polony and some great crispy chips seasoned with some chip spice. The verdict: go in hungry for this burger. All in all, considering the type of food you order, the time it took from ordering to the table was not long. I'd recommend Amman Restaurant anytime
