Era situata in Place Lamartine, una piazza che oggi si presenta in modo molto diverso da come la vide Van Gogh. La casa fu gravemente danneggiata durante un bombardamento degli Alleati nel 1944 durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, e in seguito fu considerata irrecuperabile e demolita. Oggi, al suo posto, c'è una targa commemorativa che ne ricorda la passata esistenza.
