Porte d'Aquitaine — Attraction in Bordeaux

I guess most affluent cities would require a stunning gateway to its city and Bordeaux is no exception. This tall thirty odd metres gate together with an obelisk and a turtle with grapes, representing the rich wine region of Bordeaux, is the stunning introduction to this city. It's located in Place de la Victoire and the beginning of the Rue Sainte-Catherine pedestrian thoroughfare in Bordeaux, an almost two kilometres pedestrian thoroughfare and supposedly one of the longest in Europe. Construida en 1753 y siendo bautizada así como una especie de homenaje al duque de Aquitania, que acababa de nacer, la puerta de Aquitania, al igual que muchas de las otras puertas medievales de Burdeos, también tiene apariencia de arco del triunfo.
