Sylvie Fahrer & Son — Attraction in Colmar-Ribeauvillé

We had the privilege of staying with Sylvie Fahrer for three nights last month and had a wonderful time. The B&B was spotlessly clean, the breakfast was delicious and the honor-refrigerator filled with the proprietress's wine and soft drinks was an added bonus. As I was travelling with my daughter, we stayed in the one room with twin beds, which was very roomy with a nice modern bathroom. The doubles were all across the hall and had a nice view. This room didn't, but it wasn't a problem for us. St-Hippolyte is a sweet little town and well located for exploring many of the charming villages along the Route de Vin. It was about 45 minutes' drive on the highway from the Strasbourg train station, and Colmar was no more than 1/2 hour south of us. St. Hippolyte had several restaurants to choose from. In the evenings we would take a bottle of wine and sit at a table and enjoy it with other guests -- most of the guests were French of German -- no other Americans in sight, but Sylvie spoke English flawlessly and suffered through my insistence on speaking French. Rien de tel que de s'immerger dans l'univers des vignobles, de sentir les arômes embaumant l'air et de goûter à de véritables pépites œnologiques. C'est précisément ce que nous avons vécu avec mes amis récemment lors d'une visite chez la vigneronne Sophie Fahrer à St Hyppolite en Alsace, en compagnie de Clarisse.||||Dès notre arrivée au domaine, nous avons été accueillis chaleureusement et nous a guidés dans les différentes salles où est fabriqué le vin d'Alsace.||||Clarisse nous a prodigué de précieuses explications sur chaque vin :||||Le Gewurztraminer, le cépage emblématique de l'Alsace.||Nous avons ensuite découvert le Riesling, un vin sec et minéral, aux arômes d'agrumes. Clarisse nous a expliqué que ce vin était idéal pour accompagner les poissons et les fruits de mer.||Le Pinot noir : Elle nous a raconté l'importance du terroir dans la culture de ce cépage et comment cela se traduisait dans le vin.||La visite s'est conclue en beauté avec le Crémant d'Alsace, un vin effervescent produit selon la méthode traditionnelle. Clarisse nous a révélé les secrets de sa fabrication et nous avons apprécié les bulles délicates et la fraîcheur de ce Crémant. Une véritable note festive pour clore cette visite en beauté.||||Au cours de cette expérience, nous avons pu apprécier la passion et le savoir-faire de Sophie Fahrer, une vigneronne qui met tout son cœur et son talent dans la création de ses vins biologiques.
