Very BAD experience: last minute change and it’s client’s fault. We ( with one kid n one elder) made a reservation more than one week ago and it’s confirmed. But they changed the time at the last moment which we couldn’t take it due to the train. The bad experience came from their attitude, first thing he said to me is : no, your visit is 40 minutes later. But did we have an agreement, sir? It’s sounds to me it’s a ‘notice’ Then he pointed the finger at me that I didn’t read the Emil, sent the night before, Sat night at 20:30 ( maybe French do when they travel but I don’t) and I didn’t pick up the phone ( am I obligated to answer the phone with unknown number?) the whole conversation didn’t have any problem solving, or other proposals. Just we couldn’t do it and you didn’t receive our notice.
Later he sent me an email again explaining how busy they are and I refused the time he proposed. OMG he gave me two time slots 10am and 4pm and I ‘chose’ one of them. How dare they accused clients with lies. So, I hope no one else is unlucky like us. For them the bad experience is it all “OUR” fault, not them.
Plus he said to my face” we have a private tour at 3 and impossible to finish at 4. “ in a way, they already selected the clients and unfortunately...
Read moreOur visit to Château Guadet was one of the most memorable and meaningful wine experiences we've ever had. Touring the property with Guy Petrus himself was a true privilege—his knowledge, passion, and presence elevated the experience in a way that’s hard to put into words. You can feel the weight of history here, and Guy brings it to life with intelligence, humility, and authenticity.
The underground cellar was absolutely stunning. Stepping down into that space felt like entering a time capsule, with layers of history built into the limestone walls. It’s the kind of setting that reminds you wine isn’t just about taste—it’s about time, place, and story.
As for the wine: we loved it. It was elegant, complex, and full of character. We brought two bottles home to Canada and look forward to opening them on future special occasions. The tasting was thoughtful and unhurried, without the gloss or hard-sell you sometimes find at the newer, flashier wineries nearby.
If you're looking for something real—something that sticks with you long after you've left—Château Guadet is it....
Read moreVisited this chateau among many others on my trip to Bordeaux. Our tour guide Guy Petrus was kind, yet surely talked more about his life opposed to the wine. Did not visit the right bank of Bordeaux to hear a man boast about his life and acting career. The wine cellar cave was the highlight, quite magnificent.
In terms of the wine tasting. Guy emphasized the importance of a clean glass and “smelling the glass” only to follow by using the same glass for two different vintages. The amount of wine tasted was very small, with the focus being a sales pitch to buy his wine. The quality of the wine was decent, however guy was comparing their wine to first growth Bordeaux (latour, Lafite Rothschild etc.) which is outright ridiculous! Could’ve been an excellent experience, but the ego of Guy seemed to get in the way. The customer service was not close to the other wineries we visited in Bordeaux. Many other wineries that will treat you as valued guest, not opportunities to make...
