Excellent food, welcoming staff, and elegant environment. Remember to make a reservation. The food was excellent. I ordered a duck based main course, which was perfectly cooked. The salad accompanied featured the most wonderful cooked tomatoes I had ever tasted. The dessert was Apple crumble with lemon ice cream with herbs. I have to say that the most mesmerizing part of the whole dish was the ice cream. It’s homemade so you can’t find it elsewhere. The texture and the flavor are one of the kind. It didn’t give you the aftertaste that stuck around your throat that most of the manufactured ice cream gave. But the Apple crumble was a bit over cooked in my opinion. Somewhat hard. The wine was local and organic, very good quality. The only downside is that there was a fly flying around my table. It’s kind of annoying because I would like to enjoy my meal without distraction. I understood that the temperature was a bit high so the windows and the door were all open. But still not an excuse for a fine restaurant like this. FYI, they don’t take les tickets resto. Also, remember to book a place. I’m very lucky to come here at 11.30 and see if it happened to have a time slot for me. I saw that many people came after 12 and sought a table but unluckily there were limited spaces to take them. I think I’m the only person who got a table without reservation when I visited.

To record a very unpleasant encounter. I decieded on this place for their good reviews on food and reasonable pricing the day before coming to Saint Emilion. Before lunchtime, 20 mins before their opening it was raining outside and wondered if I could wait at their door in advance to avoid rain. I was totally aware they open at 12 and was just asking for a favour to wait at the door so that I can be under the roof. In my undrrstanding it won't affect their preparations at any extent and I was ready for a communication. 4 staff were dining at that time and sadly it seemed none of them were welcoming and the hostess just said 'NO' abruptly. I wondered if this could be some langiage barriers and tried to clarify I just wanted to stay at the door because it was raining quite heavily outside without a shelter. 'NO, IMPOSSIBLE' With such an attitue I could only leave the place in disappointment and frustration. Yet I do not totally exclude the possibility that they were surprised at me appearance and due to language or culture barriers both of us did not fully understand each other. I do reccomend their neighbour Le Comptoir du Passage, they open earlier, have shelter outside, friendly staff and their foie gras is delicious.

Che Pascale is located in a convenient spot in the village, slightly away from the main center. The interior is tastefully decorated: small, closely spaced tables, yet the atmosphere remains pleasant and airy. The service is professional, but from the very start there is a noticeable push to order wine, aperitifs, and bottled water. Declining these suggestions is often met with a subtle sense of impatience from the staff. For starters, we had a tuna and salmon tartare — average in quality, modest in portion size, and rather simple in flavor. The meat, supposedly their signature dish and among the most expensive on the menu, was of only moderate quality: tough in parts, with sinew and chewy sections. The rare cooking was well executed, however. The bill was average for Saint-Émilion, so reasonable in that sense, but the overall experience did not make us feel truly welcome. A reservation is still recommended, given the large number of tourists — mostly American and Asian — who may be more receptive to the constant upselling of wine and aperitifs, even at lunchtime.

Really lovely restaurant interior. The food we did have was great. However I truly would not recommend this place to anyone. The server was beyond rude to us. To start she attended a group that arrived after us (OK) but did not show us both sides of the meals of the day, which did for the other group. We had a winery tour in less than 1.5 hours so we decided to order a few things at first while we mulled over the menu (ie wine and other food options). The server told us the entire place was booked and the kitchen busy (we arrived at 12:00 and there was only 3 others tables there at that time). She proceeded to take our menus away very quickly and rudely, and when we asked to keep one she said “which”…. It almost felt like we had to fight for one. She never came back till our food was served (again she did spend time at the other group near us before their meal was ready) and placed it unceremoniously. I will comment to note that she was was very nice to the other table beside us. She clearly wanted us to leave when she thought we weren’t ordering much. If you’re ready to order a lot (wine, appetizer and mains) all at ONE TIME this would be nice based on how OTHER guests were treated. However if you are slow or aren’t ordering a large amount would not recommend as the service is among the worst I’ve ever experienced. Very sad as the chef clearly puts in effort. Consistent with other...
