Lyon Part Dieu station in Lyon is one of the most important stations in France, and it fully deserves its reputation. Not only does it have shops, offering travellers a wide range of possibilities, but it also offers an excellent service for printing train tickets. In addition, the train ticket printing service stands out for its efficiency. Dedicated staff are on hand to help passengers get their tickets quickly, avoiding long waits at ticket offices. This focus on speed and ease of use is a real advantage for travellers in a hurry or looking to save time. The importance of addressing water leaks on the platforms: Despite these many positive points, it is important to highlight a problematic aspect of Lyon Part Dieu station. Indeed, in dry weather, water sometimes leaks from the platform roofs and falls on passengers. This is uncomfortable and detracts from the passenger experience. It is essential that work is undertaken to resolve this problem, as Lyon's image as a welcoming and modern city can suffer. #B4YOUDISCOVERY

Lyon main train station left a lot to be desired. From the exterior it looks very spacious and welcoming but as soon as you enter you feel congested. The stairs to reach the platform are oddly placed and shows a poor use of space. There are not many shops around and mostly for eating and drinking. There is usually a big queue in all the shops. No souvenirs shop around. Waiting area look damp and unventilated. There are no automatic lockers for luggage. The left luggage facility is slow and expensive. On a Sunday, everything outside the main station is closed, so you are stuck there. Overall a not so nice station for an otherwise great city.

A really good station once you get used to the station layout (not to be confused with Gare de Lyon in Paris). I bought a ticket here by mistake and was able to get a refund once I realised. I bought my ticket via the eurail on the Global Pass. I was quite confused upon arrival but eventually figured it out as there was lots of staff to help tourists and those of us who were in Lyon for the Olympics. It has many entrances and there are two floors (I think the upper floor is the most recent addition so all shiny and new). It has some restaurants and other eateries and cafes. A really great baggage service where you can pay a rate to leave your luggage while you tour the city which is what I did as my train to Geneve wasn't until 8:38pm (there are many time options to choose from and are basically free with the Global Pass as there's no need to reserve a seat on Suisse trains). Platforms are confirmed 10 mins or so before departure. It's quite a busy station but easy to navigate once you know which entrance and exit you need to use. Very helpful staff on the floor and a great location as I booked my hotel just a 10 min walk away. Lots of roadworks around the station too so expect some detours if you're...
