Galeries Lafayette Nice Masséna — Attraction in Nice

Not à shopping experience you want to come back for. While browsing in the Men's Fashion section which was more or less empty on a Saturday morning and picking up some new shirts I noticed the absence of any staff. Just only to find them all huddled together on the shop floor abd having a great lough and chat. It seems that customers are a nuisance and best ignored. I dared to ask to try on a shirt and was told 'I don't work in this section' also it is not really ok to unpack the shirt I picked but rather look for one which is open on the rails but a different style all together.... After I picked two shirts blind and moved on to Hugo Boss to look for a business/casual jacket I found the same there, all staff huddled up in a corner too busy doing whatever they where doing except serving customers. Only after I actually took a jacket and walked on a member of staff ran after me telling me I needed to pay at their counter as Boss is special.... once at the cash desk the rest of the staff just ignored us and carried on without a good morning or anything. Talking so loudly that I couldn't understand the person serving me. I shop in other cities in France and abroad, but I have never seen anything like this. I will surely...

The service is terrible, I bought some stuff (as a result, I could buy it with a third visit to the store), it was hard to find a consultant. When finally found her, as a result, she did not speak any word in english. We asked to call someone who speaks English, she spread her hands and stood doing nothing and telling us on french that noone speak, even not trying to help. The next time we came to the store there was a similar situation in another department. Another dissatisfied woman came without knowledge of international language- English (each of them just were telling us - “Oh, tu ne parles pas français on ne peut pas t'aider alors”. This is horrible for such store, as it’s main store of Nice. We visited 56 countries and their main stores, and never had such problem, as they hire people with knowledge of international language (and yes it’s not french, it’s unfortunately english), as such stores are visited by many tourists, that shows a really bad reputation of Galery Lafayette. It only shows the lack of education of the all French nation for us, as it’s really first time we had such problem in the main city...

It’s a lovely shopping centre, surrounded in the city of Nice, but the shopping experience you receive is pretty low standard compared to other European cities and the staff is poorly managed. For example, each section is split into brands with different people managing the different brands but this is a bit frustrating, in my instance I was trying to buy a pair of shoes in the Men’s section of Comme des Garçons Play and there was nobody there for 20 minutes because the staff was on a lunch break. I literally sat down waiting for the person to arrive so I could buy a pair of shoes, and less than 10 meters away at another brand someone other staff were just standing around, one on their phone and another person looking out the window who both said they couldn’t help because it is “not” their brand, which led me to waiting for someone to finish their lunch. Poor experience, but the shoe quality and the interior design was great so that is 2...
