Strasbourg Zoological Museum — Attraction in Strasbourg

The Strasbourg Zoological Museum is exactly what it claims to be: it's filled with stuffed (taxidermy) animals. So DON'T come here looking for a full natural historical collection, as you won't find it. Also, DON'T come here looking for an exhibit that holds up to modern museological standards: the presentation is outdated to say the least.

However, DO come here for a collection of amazing and sometimes rare specimens, as well as for excellent reference collections. Also, DO come here to learn about the history of the study of zoology, or to experience the historical way of museological presentation - all perfectly displayed in antique cabinets. But mostly DO come here for a great time, by yourself or with your kids, who will be amazed by the many wonders the animal kingdom...

Lots of taxidermy sorted into different categories. Masses of birds as well as larger animals including a very sad looking baby elephant. Many are showing their age but an interesting insight into history before tvs...

Je reviens de ce musée avec ma fille de 6 ans. Musée riche et très agréable pour les enfants. Dommage qu'en pleine découverte enfantine on soit réprimandé sans ménagement par une conservatrice peu délicate qui en en passant nous lance :"On ne met pas les doigts sur les vitres." C'est vrai (même si c'était mon ongle) Ceci étant, quand on voit l'état des vitres ce serait plutôt aux visiteurs de se plaindre car elles sont effectivement très sales !! Et ce n'est pas le nombre de visiteurs par jour qui en est la cause vu le nombre de traces et de tâches.... Un petit peu plus de délicatesse, d'eau et de lave-vitre ne serait pas du luxe dans ce musée pourtant non...
