Ich durfte mit eigenen Augen erfahren warum diese Brücke Drehbrücke genannt wird. Es ist schon interessant zu sehen wie man vor einer Schranke steht und direkt vor einen geht es runter in den Rhein und der erwartete Übergang weggedreht ist so dass ein Schiff vorbei fahren kann und sich die Brücke wieder zu einem dreht, einrastet und die Schranke vor einem öffnet.

Diese historische Drehbrücke ist was besonderes. Es wird mit einer Generalsanierung im kommenden Herbst begonnen, daß hat die Verwaltung der Stadt Köln beschlossen. Dieses 1908 erbaute denkmalgeschützte Metallkonstrukt wird für rund 40 Wochen komplett gesperrt. Voraussichtlich sollen die Arbeiten Ende 2021 fertig sein. Hinweis für Autofahrer: Samstags, Sonntags und an Feiertag bleibt die Drehbrücke geschlossen, Fußgänger sollen keine...

Ingenieurkunst vom feinsten! Überspannt die Hafeneinfahrt zwischen Siegburgerstraße und den Poller Wiesen. Die Brücke ist fast 120 Jahre alt und funktioniert, nach der Sanierung, wieder tadellos!! Das Geländer und Maschinenhaus ist im geometrischen Jugendstil gestaltet. Die Brücke dreht sich nur noch selten, etwa 1x pro Woche. Man muss etwas Glück haben ;-)
