Honestly, we didn't expect this museum to be very good or interesting. We only went because it was raining, but we spent more than two hours here Our children really enjoyed trying the football activity, table tennis, the gymnastics horse and beam, the balancing balls, racing bike...there were SO many fun things to try out. The museum website really should show more photos of these enjoyable, interactive things to encourage visitors to come. It wasn't very clear from the website. For adults, there is a lot of information in German and English about the history of the Olympic Games.

The main downside is that the café isn't really a café! Don't expect to get anything fresh to eat here, certainly. There are vending...

The decision for a German "Sport Museum" dates back to an agreement of the German Sports Association and the German National Olympic Committee in 1978. It took until 1996 to take this to fruition. The German Sport & Olympia Museum not only conveys sports-historical, but also political, socio-critical and historical-historical connections. It has been well accepted by the general public and has become a pilgrimage place for school classes. Despite the fact, that the building is utterly unattractive. Its location in the center of Cologne on the banks of the Rhine river is, however, spectacular and convenient. And it is adjacent to the...

One of the most interesting, informative and interactive museums I’ve ever visited in my life! No queues at all to get in. Inside they also have a number of interactive exhibits such as ping pong, boxing ring etc. Lots of historic artifacts and fascinating facts on a large number of sports all over the world and throughout the ages. Only drawback - if you arrive after the cafe has closed, you can’t buy or fill in water unless you have cash! The vending machine only takes cash which is very odd. Would highly recommend this museum to sports and non sports lovers alike.

Fascinating displays of the history of sport, most of which have English descriptions. It starts in ancient Greece and goes through to the modern era. It has many exhibits of memorabilia, replicas and audio-video displays. It doesn't shy away from the politicisation of sport, including Nazi Germany, which adds credibility to the displays. Much better than I thought it would be.

Very disappointing museum. Limited creativity in the displays and extremely bad lighting. You get the feeling that someone had a few memorabilia, and felt the need to display them, rather than creating a space that inspires and entertains the visitor. Once you have entered the Foyer you have seen some of the most interesting things. Not worth spending the money to see the rest.
