Late, Lame, and Largely Unforgettable ā For All the Wrong Reasons*
If punctuality and professionalism are important to you, avoid this tour like a pothole in the dark.
The tour started with a solid 60-minute delayā no explanation, no apology, just a growing crowd of confused guests wondering if weād accidentally signed up for a hide-and-seek experience. When the guide finally arrived, it became painfully clear: not only was he late, he was also hopelessly unprepared.
Our āguideā ā and I use the term loosely ā looked like he Googled the itinerary on the way over. His commentary ranged from incorrect facts to awkward silences. Questions from the group were met with blank stares or vague guesses, which made the tour feel less like an educational experience and more like a group therapy session in frustration.
Every stop felt rushed, the schedule made no sense, and no one knew what was happening next. Honestly, Google Maps and Wikipedia wouldāve been a better tour guide.
Late, Clueless, and Flat-Out Rude*
Where do I begin? The tour started late, with zero communication. We stood around wondering if we'd been scammed. When the guide finally showed up, it was obvious he was completely inexperienced ā stumbling through vague explanations, unsure of the schedule, and barely able to answer basic questions.
But the real highlight? The back office staff, who were impressively rude and unhelpful. Any attempt to get information or assistance was met with sighs, eye-rolls, and an attitude that screamed, āNot my problem.ā
The whole experience felt like a joke ā but without the punchline. Would not recommend to anyone who values time, respect, or even basic organization.
Sure! Here's a sarcastic, critical review you can use or adapt:
A Masterclass in How Not to Run a Tour
If you're looking for a tour that combines utter disorganization, nonexistent customer service, and the thrilling uncertainty of "Will we be stranded or not?" ā look no further. This tour operator has truly redefined what it means to waste time, money, and patience.
From the moment we arrived (after finding our own way to the unmarked meeting point), we knew we were in for something special. The guide seemed surprised to see us ā almost like we were the unexpected guests at their own tour. Bold move!
The "luxury bus" was more of a wheeled sauna and fridge with broken air-conditioning and the unmistakable scent of despair. The itinerary? Think of it as a loose suggestion ā stops were skipped, timeframes ignored, and explanations mumbled through a barely working microphone.
Lunch was promised. What we got was a "local experience" ā standing in line for 40 minutes to buy overpriced snacks from a vending machine. Authentic!
The highlight? Being herded like confused cattle, constantly guessing what was happening next. We bonded with fellow passengers through shared confusion.
And letās not forget the back office staff ā impressively rude, dismissive, and seemingly trained in the fine art of not giving a single care. Reaching out for help felt more like interrupting their day than being a paying customer.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe execution of Uniflucht's Charming Austria trip leaves a lot to be desired. To begin with, a message was sent 30min before the scheduled arrival time that the bus is delayed by an hour. As travelers from a different city, we had no choice but to wait at the pick-up point. Had this information been conveyed earlier, we could have planned our arrival to match with the updated ETA of the bus.
The only good aspect of the bus ride was the adequate legroom. However, this didn't turn out to be of much help later in the night; the top deck had bright blue lights that were continuously left on (and couldn't be turned off according to the trip leader). It is well-established by research that blue light is the most disruptive to sleep quality. As if that wasn't enough, we were tormented throughout the night by what sounded like Turkish pop music alternating with German radio. With one speaker present above every row, the disturbance was unbearably persistent. Despite requests to turn it off, it would sooner or later turn back on each time the bus started and sometimes out of nowhere. I'm well aware that the Uniflucht only chartered the bus and does not own it per se. Nonetheless, the onus of ensuring traveler comfort by choosing appropriate buses still lies on them as they are the trip organizers.
To make matters worse, the trip leader himself appeared unsure about various aspects of the journey. He initially announced in English that our departure from Salzburg will take place 1h later than scheduled to account for the delayed arrival time. When he made the same announcement in German next, the final departure time was announced to be the same as the scheduled time. This blatant miscommunication led to palpable confusion within the group. When we later approached him about this after arriving in Salzburg, he feigned cluelessness and simply said that we will depart at the original scheduled time. The driver added that this is due to their break requirements. I totally understand that the drivers follow strict guidelines, but promising something only to go back on it later signals severe unprofessionalism on the guide's part, especially since he did not own up to his error and avoided taking responsibility for the miscommunication.
In the end, our arrival in Salzburg was delayed by not one, but more than two hours relative to the itinerary. Again, I understand that various factors are at play for delays, but the fact that it's brushed under the carpet is what's most bothersome (we were originally promised 12:30 - 9:30 in Salzburg but finally ended up with 7 hours in the city instead of 9). What's more, there was no sign of the guided tour that was scheduled first thing after arrival in Salzburg. Despite the delay, the tour guides were not ready on time and to top things off, the trip leader had no clue about it either. Since there was once again no coordination by him regarding this additional delay, it led to a bus full of people waiting in 30°C sun in the bus parking lot for the tour to start, further exacerbating the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently joined this incredible trip from uniflucht, and I can confidently say it was wonderful! From the start, our tour guide Talha was exceptionally kind and patient, always making sure everyone felt comfortable, got enough breaks and are informed (despite that, people kept insisting for unrealistic schedule changes, asking same questions thousand times even tho he posted everything in WhatsApp + announced it to bus several times) since itās long bus trip he made sure to remind us how we have to use breaks efficiently and how there wonāt be specific meal breaks, but there will be long and shorter breaks we can decide to eat or freshen up. His positivity and enthusiasm added so much to the journey, he was even waking us up with lovely music in the mornings š„ŗšø I truly appreciate his and Famkeās efforts for making this a smooth trip!
The itinerary was well-planned, allowing us to explore stunning destinations across Scandinavia based on our liking. Talha always shared some tips and highlights about the destinations to help us. Additional tours we picked up from Santa Claus Village was really nice, the venues paid special attention to us and we learned a lot/had endless fun! I made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories along the way. While the roads were icy at times, the drivers were highly skilled, ensuring a smooth and safe journey throughout.
Now, about the Northern Lightsāitās important to remember that they are a natural phenomenon, meaning they can never be guaranteed. It is already mentioned in trip description, additional activity booking form and by Talha several times. This was not a āchasing lightsā tour with a double-decker bus. To āchase them until we seeā we would need much faster cars and smaller number of people, if youāre looking for such tours they already offer it in Santa Claus Village but for much higher prices. Talha already knew some areas with high probability of seeing auroras, and we tried our chances by going to those places and waiting. Sadly due to sudden increase of temperature from -15s to 0 degree, we had cloudy skies during the planned excursions, but we were lucky to witness the aurora on the cruise ship on our way backāa breathtaking moment!
I noticed some people were disappointed about not seeing the lights during the scheduled time, but thatās due to a misunderstanding of what this trip offers. If you expect a full-on aurora hunting expedition, this is not that kind of tour. However, if youāre looking for an amazing adventure filled with new friendships, stunning landscapes, and a well-organized itinerary, I highly recommend this trip!
Thank you again to Talha, Famke and the skilled driver team for making this such a fantastic experience! Iām already looking forward to my next journey with...
