FOOD & DRINKS Let's get straight to the pizza. I ordered the thin crust pizza "Calabrese" which comes with tomato, mozzarella and spicy Italian salami. I think the heat level was just right for a pizza. I personally wouldn't mind some red chili pepper flakes on my pizza but if you want it more spicy there is Italian hot oil available. The tomato slices were a bit odd. They were cut unevenly. Some slices were quite thick, others were thin. And the tomatoes didn't really taste that special. I would have preferred a few chunks of really fruity, sweet and tart quality tomatoes. The tomato sauce was actually perfect for me. It wasn't too tart. Very well balanced and enjoyable. The pizza crust was done very well too. Thin, light and crispy towards the edges. Was it the best pizza I've eaten? Definitely not. Is it a good pizza at a very fair price? Very much so. The pizza you get is really large! Come here hungry or share it with your friends. And one more thing. They serve the cola in small glass bottles and not from a 2L plastic bottle. Thank you.
SERVICE I was able to watch the service while eating my pizza which is something I always do. I want to see how they treat other customers and behave while they are not serving anyone. I can say that the young Italian woman who took my order was really nice and always had a smile. Compared to that the owner looked a bit grumpy but that's fine. I was able to watch him treat pretty female customers with special care by giving away some alcohol with their take away order. To be honest, I felt a bit neglected. I even had to ask for my bill twice. When the place is busy, they can easily loose track of just one guy sitting in the corner alone with his pizza.
ATMOSPHERE I choose to sit next to the counter close to the window. I don't think you want to sit there if you want a relaxed atmosphere and Italian flair. The dining room itself is nice. It has an old Italian restaurant charm. I just happen to pick that specific table for observation and it helped me with the lightning for my pictures.
RATING Was there any kind of excitement? No. But if you just crave some good pizza this is a spot worth recommending. Especially for the price you pay. Which is also the reason why this location is getting a four...
Read moreThis is exactly like a small port to south Italy: super tasty and huge food, noisy environment and cheap prices. Most importantly, the pizzas are original, thin, tasty and extremely huge. One is definitely more than enough for a person and you can easily share it with others. You can see the preparation in the small kitchen simply by standing in the entrance of the restaraunt, which I find great. You can see they prepare the pizza dough themselves. Maybe that's the secret why it is so delicious! It's very crowded (understandable), so the staff are a bit stressed, so you might get your pizza late (or even get something you didn't order!), but at the end you'll be happy with the results. The prices are really fair for the quality and the portion. (see the menu) Totally, a great experience! Tip: it might be difficult to get a table. So try calling in advance or you might wait for some...
Read moreOne of the better italian cuisine restaurants I was in! It seemed as a family-run restaurant with pretty much everyone speaking Italian. Needless to say, food was also in Italian style. Carbonara was the best carbonara I ate so far, by more than a class. Same goes for tiramisu - it is very rare that everything is perfect in tiramisu, but here it was spot-on! It was the best one I had. Portions are huge, and that comes from someone who is over 100kg 🙂. Everything in food is of high quality. The staff is very friendly, everyone with a smile. Prices are low for the quality and quantity provided. If we come back to Dusseldorf next year again, we'll surely again eat only here. If the owner or cook see this comment please feel free to email me the recipe for the...
