Siemens Healthineers MedMuseum — Attraction in Erlangen

Inspiring museum that documents the history of Siemens contribution to Health tech. Absolutely a must visit if you are visiting Erlangen. The touch screen panel about different Siemens Healthineers location, the outside gallery about cinematic imagery, the ECG machines, history of X ray machines and various ms other health tech made by Siemens makes for an inspiring morning/ afternoon. It will take atleast 3/4 hours to see all of them with some depth. And they have English guides but has to be booked in advance - please check their website for this. Great museum for people interested in the history of imaging, although they have some other stuff there. Had the chance to see the first RöFo :) They have some nice free texts in German and English about the history of the different imaging modalities. if you have a chance to speak to Mrs. Braun, the curator, you will learn a lot of interesting things. and a bonus: they have a decent coffee...

Das Museum zur Medizingeschichte und Medizintechnik von Siemens Healthineers kann ich allen Menschen, die an dem Thema interessiert sind, nur empfehlen. Verschiedene medizinische Geräte wie z.B. frühe Röntgenapparate, Fotos und Filmaufnahmen von bildgebenden Verfahren, gute, auch für Laien verständliche Erläuterungen auf deutsch und englisch sowie zwei große interaktive Displays mit vielen wichtigen Infos z.B. zu Schlaganfall oder Herzinfarkt- all dies konnte ich nahezu ungestört studieren. Die Risiken und schädlichen, teils fatalen Nebenwirkungen der frühen Röntgentechnik werden auch thematisiert, aber letztlich überwiegt bei mir doch ein Gefühl großer Dankbarkeit für all die genialen technischen Fortschritte der letzten Jahrzehnte.
