For English speakers: this little museum isn’t on many lists or videos about things to do in Heidelberg, but it should be! It’s free, and if you don’t read German be sure to get a free audio guide from the desk—all the signs are in German. They speak English at the desk and can answer any questions. The exhibition is basically all photographs and information, so don’t expect artifacts or films (although there were some screens that may show short films but they weren’t working today). Very sobering topic, and sad pictures but nothing too explicit if you’re familiar with pictures related to the Holocaust. There is a free restroom and the museum is 3 stories—so some stairs. Recommend planning to spend an hour, or possibly two if you stop to listen to every commentary. I think there were about 45 audio commentaries each about 1-3 minutes long and there are plenty of chairs throughout so you can sit and listen. The interior of the roof is clearly very old and pretty neat, considering how they incorporate it into the memorial at the top of the exhibition. No wait to enter (there was one other visitor there when we were there, on a beautiful summer Saturday).
