Marburg Altstadt — Attraction in Marburg

A very special Altstade, or old town, with lot of good bristos, cafes, restaurants and bars dotted around the main roads and small alleys offering a wide variety of beverages and foods to suit different tastes. There are a few interesting shops (e.g. one sells brushes and wooden utenisils and one kids stuffs) but not too many chain stores (I remember seeing Body Shop and snipes but can't remember the others ). This is the ideal place to chill out before or after you visit the sightseeing attractions in or close by the old town or enjoy a drink or meal. You should sit on the side walk to see and to be seen. Though there may be cars passing by the narrow roads and getting too close and some people got scared, the regulations here do allow cars to drive too fast in the zone (only below 10 km/h operated at 1st gear and not stepping on the throttle). YOu can always choose the inner row if you don't feel save. One last thing, as the old town was built on the hill side that people need to walk up and down som sloped streets (the climb up to the Schloss on the hill top via the roads or stairs is very steep), it may be challenging for older people who can't manage walking too much or people on wheelchairs, they may need to make use of buses, car or other supports to...

Um in die Altstadt (Oberstadt) zu gelangen, parkt man am besten in einem Parkhaus rechts, oder links der Gutenbergstraße. Von dort hat man schon einen sagenhaften Blick zum Schloß! Dann geht man entweder die kleinen, verwinkelten Gässchen zur Oberstadt hoch, oder man läuft ca. 500 m zum Oberstadtaufzug und wird bequem nach oben transportiert. Beide Möglichkeiten haben ihren Reiz. In der Oberstadt ein absolutes Muss ist der Marktplatz mit seinem Rathaus und unzähligen reizvollen Einkehrmöglichkeiten. Zur vollen Stunde schlägt der Hahn der Rathausuhr mit den Flügeln und der Trompeter trötet etwas unglücklich, was fast nicht zu hören ist. Direkt neben dem Rathaus befindet sich ein mit sieben Fliegen bestückten Haus - der erste Hinweis (Das tapfere Schneiderlein) auf die Brüder Grimm, die in Marburg gewohnt haben. Es befinden sich weitere "märchenhafte Hinweise" in der Oberstadt! Wer die Augen offen hält, wird immer wieder fündig! Die pflastersteinbewehrten Gassen der Oberstadt läuft man vorzugsweise mit flachen Schuhen - Pumps bitte im Koffer lassen! So kann man die traumhaften Häuser genießen, ohne auf jeden Schritt achten zu müssen. Und der Blick wandert immer wieder nach oben - versprochen! Zum Schloss führen vom Markt aus entweder viele Stufen, oder ein etwas längerer Weg ohne Treppe. Wir waren vom Inneren des Schlosses nicht so begeistert, aber das liegt im Auge des Betrachters. Der Ausblick von hier oben, lohnt den Aufstieg aber auf jeden Fall! Sehenswert sind auf jedenfall noch die Rundkirche, und die Universitätskirche! Unten, auf der anderen Seite der Lahn, sollte man einen Abstecher in die Weidenhäuserstraße machen. Wunderschöne enge Gasse mit vielen kleinen Fachwerkhäusern und einem ganz besonderen Flair. Und zum Abschluss laden direkt an der Lahn hübsche Restaurants zur Rast ein, oder man macht noch eine kleine Tretboottour auf dem Wasser! Wir haben Marburg...
