Zeppelin Museum Meersburg — Attraction in Verwaltungsverband Meersburg

A compact, but nevertheless fascinating museum, and at only 5 Euro to enter, very good value too. Visitors can see a film, in English or German, which explains how Zeppelins were conceived and developed over 30 years to a large enterprise taking passengers all around the globe. It explains the technological innovations that made it all possible. The exhibits are from a private collection. They range from the communications equipment used on board to the crew uniforms and objects from the luxury passenger compartments. The lady that runs it is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. She receives no public funding so relies on visitors to keep it running. Das Zeppelin Museum wird privat geführt. Es hat nichts mit dem Museum in Friedrichshafen zu tun.

Die Dame im Museum war sehr freundlich und redselig und hatte ein enormes Wissen nicht nur über die Zeppeline.

An einigen Stellen ist das Museum optisch in die Jahre gekommen. Man muss aber bedenken, dass es privat finanziert wird. Entertainment sucht man hier vergebens. Das ist auch nicht die Intention.

Das Museum ist überschaubar von der Grundfläche, aber fast unüberschaubar hinsichtlich der Ausstellungsstücke. Im positiven Sinn. Es gibt überwiegend originale Stücke aus den Zeppelinen wie z.B. Funkgeräte, Metallstreben, Porzellan, Uniformen. Natürlich auch viele Bilder und Zeitungsartikel sowie persönliche Gegenstände ehemaliger Fluggäste oder Angestellter der Zeppelin Reederei.

Man kann einen etwas älteren Film (ca. 15 -20 Jahre alt) ansehen. Darin geht es um die Geschichte des Zeppelin bis zum Absturz der Hindenburg. Diesen sollte man wenn zu Beginn schauen, da einige Ausstellungsstücke in dem Film vorkommen.

Bewundernswert ist die Anzahl an ganz besonderen Fundstücken der Zeppelin Geschichte. Hoffentlich kann auch in Zukunft diese Sammlung gezeigt und erhalten werden und landet nicht irgendwann in einer Auktion unter dem Hammer und wird in der...

A wonderful discovery in Meersburg. All of the exhibits are fascinating as is the video show. It's really obvious that the lady who runs it is deeply passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. Only 5 Euro entry for adults too. It's not the biggest museum in the world but it's a real experience....
