It's disappointing: it's excessively expensive, 10 euros!!! (August 17th), and given the importance of the city and the size of the building, one expects more organization, discernment, and exhibition quality (it looks like a warehouse, with closed floors and rooms...). There are very valuable pieces, but none justify the price and the tour takes less than an hour. There's no brochure (a QR code with a map is difficult to follow), the itinerary is structured around cordons that close off rooms, and the staff chatter away... It's better to focus...
Read moreThe building of the museum is beautiful, but its content was created with a very old mentality, it is a museum where you can only see various objects. It is a place devoid of narrative, storytelling and many other things that museology requires.
Forget comparing it with modern museology, I must say that it is left behind even among the classical museums that are still numerous in Greece. If you have free time in Kavala, visit it, I don't think it's worth going here...
