Can’t really comment on the food as we left (a party of 13) before we got to order (despite our best endeavours). I can’t imagine it being great though as apparently all the fish they serve is deep fried.
However, it’s the service that stands out - in the worst possible way.
The waiter (bald guy with glasses) was incredibly rude and kept rushing off. Rather than ask us what we wanted individually, he stood at the end of the table and shouted “what do you want”. He would also rush off mid order and disappear for 5 minutes at a time.
His manner was akin to Basil Fawlty from Fawlty Towers. Particular highlights were:
Berating a diner for asking for “Amstel Zero” - to which he shouted “It’s not Amstel Zero it’s Amstel Free! There is no such thing as Amstel Zero!” Getting stuck in a loop when we asked which fish was grilled and which was fried. (“How do you want it?”, “Pan Fried or grilled”, “We don’t do that.”, “OK, how do you do it?”, “Well how do you want it?” - repeat x 10) Berating another member of the group for asking for the Fish Stew (which was on the menu). “Are you crazy?! It’s too hot for fish stew!” Literally shouting at me “Tell me what you want!”, “Tabbouleh salad please”, “What do you want!!”, “Tabbouleh”, “WHAT DO YOU WANT!!”, “Tabbouleh!” (This went on for about 2 minutes.) When a child in the group asked for the Chicken Schnitzel he shouted at them “This is a fish restaurant!!!!” (Despite chicken schnitzel being on the menu.)
I genuinely thought it might be being filmed for a prank, but eventually we grew tired of being harrangued by the waiter, got up and went to Nemesis, around the corner. The food there was very good, and the staff...
Read moreI would like to share my unique experience with this restaurant. A week ago we were having dinner with family and friends outside next to the sea. We had just toasting with our first glass of wine when a big thunderstorm broke out. The staff very quickly activated the electric mechanism and lowered the plastic curtains. Still the rain was so strong that our feet were in the water. So the owner came and made the decision to move all the customers who had been affected by the rain to the inside of the restaurant. The transition happened very smoothly and tge staff were impeccable. Then the owner came and offered us another bottle of wine, as our glasses were left in the outside table. On top of that, due to the thunderstorm, the power was cut twice for a couple of minutes, but still the staff remained super calm. And with all these madness, the food was super delicious. My mussels couldn't be more perfectly balanced. I spent half a loaf of bread dipping in the mussell...
