A 3-star review for a 3 star hotel.
First, we got on the wrong foot when they gave us a dirty room. It was supposed to be 'recently renovated' but had stains on the furniture and on the walls. You can see the pictures. Also, it had hair on the floor in the room and bathroom, sand and dust. We asked them to change the room and they did.
The rooms were noisy and you could easily hear through the thin walls. If you're an easy to wakeup sleeper ... you're done. If your room is on the front, towards the sea i mean, the street can be pretty loud.
On booking, the breakfast was described as fabulous. Yes, fabulous. In reality, it was exactly the same everyday, kind of unvaried, and with a funny omelette. Funny how? It was watery. If you can imagine. The breakfasts were acceptable, almost decent.
The staff was friendly and cooperative. The position of the hotel is good, central, easy to get anywhere. They said the hotel had parking based on availability. In reality, it was never available. So, we had to park the car in a nearby private parking for 6 euro / day. The parking was right in front of the hotel, across the street.
So, if I had to give it a note, 6 out of ten. It was...
Read moreWe arrived at the hotel without a reservation. The gentleman at reception was very well mannered but quite slow to check his computer system and tell us if he had availability. The Covid-19 procedures were followed thoroughly by the Hotel that's why he was probably so slow. Eventually, he said he could offer us a room not overlooking either the back or front of the hotel so we could be quiet. The room was not very big with a King's size bed and a good mattress and with all the amenities in place.||The bathroom of a good size with shower very clean. A TV set was also there for us. There was always an open window and a very good aircon so we were very comfortable with heat and noise. Breakfast was served in their breakfast room by a friendly and professional lady who offered us morning coffee and whatever we selected she put in a plate and gave to us according to Covid-19 procedures.||Parking in the basement of the hotel was free and of course upon availability.||The rate for this good central hotel quite competitive. If you are in Kavala, Esperia Hotel is a very...
Read moreOK and cheap enough to stay for a few days, if you prefer a hotel. (stayed 2 nights/3 days) Good location to explore Kavala, very close to the promenade, restaurants, supermarket, museum, a park, a beach and the bus station. At some days there is a market in front of the hotel across the street. Harbor, old town/castle and the viaduct are in a good walking distance. Rooms and views on the old town/castle hill are OK. Breakfast is OK if you choose wisely the Greek ingredients from the buffet. You may sit outside, if heat and street noise doesn't bother you.
Located at Kavala's main road, can become quite busy, noisy and stuffy. Staying on the balcony isn't fun. Earplugs recommended during the night! Even the superior rooms are very small. You can see traces of multiple renovations. Closing the balcony doors properly is a challenge. Breakfast buffet: Omelett, orange juice and coffee, except double espresso plus water,...
