The little theater of the ancient city of Epidaurus is a small size theater (800 seats), located at the archaeological site of Epidaurus, 10 km northeast to its "big brother", the big Amphitheater of Epidauros, and 500 m from village Palaia Epidavros. The theater was covered with soil for many years until it was discovered about fifty years ago, in the 70s. The archaeological excavations were conducted at the site under the guidance of the famous Greek archaeologist, Evangelia Deilaki who was an urban planner and the director of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Argolida.
The excavations were resumed in the 90s and have been accompanied by reconstruction and site promotion activities of the Committee for the Conservation of the Monuments of Epidaurus (CCME), works that have revealed the theater in its Roman form and take place till nowadays.

Read more..I love this place although not completed in work of presenting the ancient theater and the environment which needs people experienced in such works but also on signboard to direct people that don't know the area and are confused to get there..the real beauty of hills with olive and lemon trees give an atmosphere rarely can been found in other places due to over exceeding of eliminating anything that stands as an element of the continuity of history ..so this coin of land furbished with such an ancient glory of its monuments I.e theater and neighbourhood ancient buildings such as baths should all toghethet being presented to the visitor..attention should been taken to the lack of people looking after antiquities and the proper entry within...
Read moreThis is closed but you can see almost everything from outside. It is very very close to the harbor through a walkway for bicycles and pedestrians only. There are two sites separated by an uphill dirt road. At the site next to the theater you can see clearly the roman walls on top of the ancient greek stone walls. The theater is a little marvel to see during the sunset. If you want to see more, go up the dirt road and turn right towards the church.
