Iāve been visiting the Barbayannis Ouzo Museum since 2022, and each time has been a truly special experience. Mr. Yiannisā tour is always unforgettable ā his humor, knowledge, and warm personality not only share the history of ouzo but also teach us how to enjoy it properly.
Reading Mr. Can Kalyoncuogluās review, I felt it was somewhat targeted. During our first visit, we also asked Mr. Yiannis for food recommendations. He kindly gave us several options ā including the mentioned taverna as well as other nearby tavernas within Plomari. Since we had a car and wanted to explore, we chose to go to Melinta and were very pleased with the food and setting.
I also noticed your review on the tavernaās page, where you said it ādidnāt have quality ouzo.ā Just to clarify, they serve and recommend Barbayannis ouzo ā in all its varieties. So perhaps your concern is more general and not just about the food.
Your feedback would be more appropriate if directed to the tavernaās review section. Here, I would have found it more helpful to read whether you enjoyed the history of ouzo, whether you were shown how to drink it properly, or whether you learned something new during your visit.
Iām posting this as a separate comment because Iām unable to reply directly to Mr. Canās review due to Google Maps settings. However, I reacted to his post and I hope heāll take a moment to read my response.
Iāve also had the pleasure of meeting their family ā just like many other family-run businesses in Plomari ā always kind, welcoming, and offering delicious food for all tastes.
Next year, when I return to the museum, I truly hope to see Mr. Yiannis again and enjoy another wonderful tour ā the way only...

The staff was very friendly and explained everything about the history of making ouzo and of how they make it today. This museum is part of a family business that is already making ouzo for 6 generations. You can see old distillation kettles, bottles, glasses etc. Also many pictures. You get a small tour through the current factory. They produce for the local market, but also export to several countries. I'm from The Netherlands and they told me they export for example to Maastricht and Tilburg. At the end of the factory tour you can taste their 4 different ouzos. And of course you can buy their products as well. Regular bottles, but...

At the museum, we learned about the rich history of the Barbayanni family, the distillery, and how the distillation process is used to create Ouzo. During the factory tour, they provided us with clear explanations of the different Barbayanni Ouzo varieties, based on their alcohol content, and highlighted the distinctions between Ouzo and Turkish rakı. We also had the chance to taste the Ouzo ourselves. If you find yourself near the beautiful town of Plomari, donāt miss the opportunity to stop by and taste this...
