We visited this beach bar hoping to enjoy a quiet meal by the sea, but right from the moment we arrived, we felt unwelcome. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, the way the staffs looked at us made it clear that we weren’t being received the same way as others. As people of colour, this was disheartening, especially while just trying to relax and enjoy our time.
We initially sat near the front under a hut, but it was dripping from the rain and the roof was rusted. I politely asked if I could move two of the better chairs from inside to the sunny spot outside, as the outdoor chairs were soaked. The staff member responded rudely, refusing without proper reason and making unnecessary, condescending remarks — including saying, “I’m 54 years old; I should be teaching you, not the other way around.”
There were plenty of empty tables, so it wasn’t a matter of busyness. His reaction felt personal, defensive, and disrespectful. It left us feeling not only dismissed as customers, but also subtly discriminated against.
We had already ordered our food, otherwise we would have left. The whole experience spoiled what should have been a simple, peaceful meal by the beach. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that all guests, regardless of background or appearance are treated with basic courtesy...
Read moreThis place is a little gem. Costa is cool as a cat and pleasant personified! Costa doesn't cost a lot. Beers etc are chilled bottles, no draft - 500ml Radler €3.50, beers €3.50, mug coffee €2, cuppa tea €1.50 etc etc. Snacks okay and the chips are fine. The best bits for me are a cool Costa who speaks very good english, free sunbeds and parasol, beach just a few feet away from this freindly stop-off. Gorgeous views, easy to keep cool due to the warm shallow seas, water sports next door, and food served until 4pm. To cap it off, the wide range of eclectic music is a joy. No drum and base here. Listen at the bar or for natural piece and quite, move away to the sunbeds. Recommend the walnut cake with nescafe coffee for €5. A great stop-off when you've completed a clockwise tour of the island. Thanks...
Read moreWhat can I say about this place... Before covid I had gone to zakynthos 7 times in the course of 3 years. I always went to alykanas border alykes because the chill atmosphere of the area is unbeatable when it comes to rest and relaxation along with adventure if you want it. In each and every visit I go exclusively to Costas snack bar. It is perfect spot, family run business in every possible positive sense. I haven't gone to Greece since before the pandemic "some of us weren't allowed to travel".. Now that I will be returning there in August 25th... The first thing I'm gonna do is go to costas get a freddo.. And walk into the water right in front of his place. My...
