Potami Taverna — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

It's definitely a wonderful experience! The food is absolutely delicious, everything is fresh and so so tasty. We went 2 times, i wish we came earlier and have more time to enjoy everything. The place is situated near the river and the view is absolutely gorgeous. On the background you have lovely greek music, and the people who run this place are more than amazing! Always there to give you a piece of advice with a smile on their faces. You feel like you belong in their family. Totally recommend it! The dessert is on the house and of course it's so so good❤ We tried our first time there the dorada fish & chicken potami souvlaki which were rainbow in our mouths, and the next day we tried the sea bass& the salmon. Starters Spicy dip - ok, not to my taste, good portion, doesn't come with vread so you have to order extra at 1 euro Village sausages- quite good Fried courgettes - good

Mains 1 Cod in garlic- tasty Fillet of sole, not as good as the cod. 3.Greek platter- I was very disappointed in this this, I wanted to try more grill version and this seemed like a good idea, but it had a half sausage, 1 hamburger pati, 1 small souvli and some chopped pork meat. This would have been nice. But half of this was burned.

Also, the fried potatoes were cooked in meat fat, or in old oil. Not sure which, but I could barely touch them.

From the house: Bread on the stove with olive oil and oregano, quite good. Mini applie tart deserts, quite tasty.

Drinks -above average prices.

Make sure you take cash with you. Went to pay the bill and was told the card machine wasn't working. I have my suspicions. I've since learnt is a common tactic. We was "told" to go and get cash. we travelled to Zante for two weeks and no way were we going to travel with the risk of carrying that amount of cash so large transactions we have paid in with a credit card. I have never in my life been told in a restaurant ever that I must pay cash. Our meal came to about €80 Euros and to be honest was nothing special either. I noticed the owner made no attempts to tell us or any other diners their was any issue while my partner was forced to return to our hotel which was a 20.minute walk for cash to pay...
